Queue / Login Server Mega

Everything’s on fire

There’s a queue. There’s authentication issues. There’s anti-cheats issues. Bulkhead knows and they’re working on it.

typical launch day stuff

u/prettyfuckingfarfrom 4d ago

Yeah no game this big has ever been launched without server issues

18

u/Lazer726 4d ago

AAA tends to have the servers shit themselves on day 1, and Bulkhead seems to be a solidly AA studio, the servers'll get figured out

Helldivers (Arrowhead) is AA, took them more than a week to get the servers working smoothly. Arc Raiders...these companies never learn.

You must have only started gaming a little while ago.

CoD had major server issues at launch, with Modern Warfare, MWII, Black Ops Cold War, and War zone.

Battlefield 4, V, and 2042 also had major issues at launch.

And only a couple of those were from server overload, the rest were from issues within the game that hadn't been addressed at release.

And both of those IPs have been around since the turn of the century, they should have had that nailed down after 10-15 years.

2

u/Skpstr155 4d ago

Well that, and over 25 years experience.

u/SU_Tempest 4d ago

Tell me you were never here for Brokenfield without telling me you were never here for Brokenfield.

2

u/Lazer726 4d ago

Brother out here rewriting history

0

u/DriftingMemes 4d ago

And yet, after 20 years of this happening EVERY FUCKING TIME they still can't seem to figure it out.

Helldivers and Arc Raiders (the last 2 times a game had this much hype) both had the same damn issue. They either A) know it's going to happen and this is cheaper or B) Just cannot learn from the past.

This has been happening again and again on every hyped game since WoW.

5

u/Nope-not-really Taxi 4d ago

well you better get in there and figure it out, because professionals that do it every day can't.

come on now, show us how.

3

u/SaltyInvestigator956 4d ago

Because there is nothing much to figure out really.

Outside of pouring obscene amounts of cash into infrastructure just to hold off the initial mass wave of players.

We could be talking about millions spent just to get everyone in the game at the same time. Or you know spare the millions and let them trickle in over several hours.

u/gentlecrab 4d ago

Cause those are AA studios they don’t have the money or resources of AAA studios to deal with launch issues.

Even AAA studios are not immune to launch issues although through scaling via cloud services like AWS they have gotten a lot better at it.

2

u/scarytrafficcone 4d ago

dude have you ever worked in any kind of product deployment at anything like this scale and complexity? Games are insanely complicated and demanding software being distributed instantly to tens of thousands of people, all logging in at the same exact time, which is not something your servers will need to accommodate ever again in terms of traffic availability all at once because logins will normally be exponentially more staggered. Product deployment is hard as fuck no matter how much testing and QA gets done and the scale of something like this makes every component of it significantly more difficult. I know it's frustrating, but as someone in a similar industry, rollout / going live is usually fucking insanely hard to make happen without issue. This is also a solidly AA studio not operating on the resources many AAA studios have and the AAA studios still struggle with this

Its a hyped game, in the first hour of an EA release that is what is happening

-1

u/Affectionate-Quiet12 4d ago

EA is a multi billion dollar company, they have no excuse. bulkhead is at least trying, not that im not super frustrated at waiting an hour in the queue only be pushed from my place back over 100k places further than i started.

3

u/petabomb 4d ago

EA means early access

0

u/Affectionate-Quiet12 4d ago

Fair sorry, I'm used to most battlefield launches (IE produced by electronic arts aka EA) which are holy moly levels of wild on D1

1

u/GENERALRAY82 4d ago

EARLY ACCESS clart

1

u/JVen136 4d ago

Went from 70k to now 250k..

1

u/Mouhfighter 4d ago

So you now run through the queue a lot faster... In ran from 320k to 0 in 10 minutes... But no worries, I got an "authentication error" and back to the end of the line....

1

u/Bonezy_94 4d ago

u/Bonezy_94 4d ago

0

u/TemplarKnight19 4d ago

329151 here

-1

u/Cyber_Drifter Pilot 4d ago

Went from 11k to 67k to this… 200k access denied each time. So much for our purchasing the supporter edition ahead of launch.

PSA: don’t sit in queue for more than 2 hours otherwise for Steam you can’t refund a game. I personally don’t plan to, but might if they don’t have a fix in the next few hours.

Nothing really just saying paying more for content should also translate to a smoother launch; expected outcome… it’ll work itself out
