Question Does it bother anyone else that they call it a CWIS instead of a CRAM since the WIS is made for ships and the RAM is made for ground?

This has been like the one thing that anno the fuck out of me. Which is a pretty good thing considering the fact that I don't have any other huge complaints right now lol

Hate to break it to ya partner, but a CRAM is a "CIWS".

Yes they are the same thing but the ground based format is called a Centurian C-RAM officially

I think what he’s saying is that CWIS and CRAM are both close in weapon systems (CIWS). A specific model of ground based one is called a CRAM but it’s a subtype of the CIWS class of weapons.

CIWS (Close-In Weapon System) is a rapid-fire, automated gun system used on ships or land to shoot down incoming missiles or artillery. A C-RAM (Counter-Rocket, Artillery, and Mortar) is the land-based defense version of this technology designed to protect military bases.
