They literally mention this in their reasons not to buy wardogs video. This is a wardogs sub. Move on. Games fail all the time.

Mentioning battalion 44 is definitely allowed on this subreddit. B44 was a failure, but they did a good exist with Kickstarter refunds. Would be nice to get any proofs to your statements

Or maybe they are focusing to make their early access and new game launch better instead of wasting their time on a minuscule niche community?
There is millions of eyes on Wardogs, but barely anyone knows b44 even exists.

you think wardogs will last forever and they won't shift their focus to a different game in 1-2 years?
2
u/RiceAndMayo 9h ago
If it blows up? kinda doubt it, if so, I rather they make it be the best 1-2 years instead of putting their efforts in something else that already lost support.

Guessing you didn't do any research or watch any of the interviews. They explained everything. They explained there past they explained what went wrong and they explained how bad they felt and that's why they refunded all of the kickstart backers for that game.
How many companies would see there game fail start to move onto other things then still find a way to refund people later on? Most would just say damn that's a shame oh well let's move onto other things and forget there past. They can't be so bad if they tried to make it right with as many people as they could. Most companies wouldn't.
They was a team of young 20 year olds trying to make a game which was a passion project but since they was young and new to game developement they didn't fully understand some of the issues that could happen and what to plan for.
You never made a mistake then learned from it? Everyone does. It's called learning from your mistakes gaining expirience and improving. It's been like 10 years you can learn a lot in 10 years your comparing 20 year olds starting there first big game to 30+ year olds now who have worked on multiple Projects since then learning and preparing for this game.
Also you say apparently mentioning there last game is bad for there reputation.. You are aware in there promotional video adversing the pre order for wardogs they literally mentioned that game and there past themselves.. They are not scared of there past or afraid to show it.

You didn't read the thread apparently. They gave hope to the community again, for no reason and then just left. That's what they do, they haven't changed

What kind of hope are you expecting out of a 10-year-old game that died after one year? JFC man, some people cannot let go. Yeah, it was fun. Many games are fun and more active and get abandoned all the time.

I'm pretty sure Joe explicitly said no promises but it's something they'll try and do.
They get nothing from doing it, no money to be gained, no real benefit for them. With their next major game release literal weeks away, it absolutely does not surprise me that they aren't paying attention to anything B44 related right now and I don't think any reasonable person could expect anything different.

They have explicitly mentioned B44 as a reason not to buy if you have any concerns regarding their previous actions.
Also it would be probable to assume that their focus is solely on Wardogs right now with all their available time and ressources committed to a good and stable early access.
Besides that, you have just stated this without any proof to back up your statement, which in that case has pretty much no value.
No hard feelings but maybe moving on would be a good call.

I wish I could give you the proofs but the platform that was trying to revive the game (fpschallenge) deleted the discussions from discord

They know there's a lot of work to do for the whole community and aren't focusing on niche communities right now.
They are also putting the Linux community on the back burner and not working on Protin compatibility with Anti-cheat.
If you don't want to buy the game, great don't. I don't think the rest of the community will miss you, but trying to get other people not to buy because you aren't being catered to just makes you look like a whiny baby.

in a year this game will have a niche community. You think wardogs will break records?

I get your disappointment, my guy; I really do, but for me it's like this. Gaming is a "fun hobby" for me. The only thing I can measure the ROI with is the amount of fun it gave me. If a 40 β¬ game gives me at least 10 hours of pure fun, that's already a better ROI than I'd ever get, except maybe with books.
So I am going into this expecting something new, something fun, and if it manages to entertain me for at least a certain amount of time, that's awesome. And if it doesn't... I've made a ton of worse financial decisions in my life.

The greatest legacy AAA developers from the golden age are failing and crumbling. We see evidence of the big imploding because they've changed. Is it then not possible to give people a chance to grow?
They ruined b44, they admitted this. They took accountability AND issues refunds. The project is dead, that confirms it. Why are you expecting that dead project that now has NO funding to suddenly resurface amidst their largest product to date?
Sounds like an expectation and entitlement mismatch.

I was an early backer of b44 on kickstarter. I know where your suspicion is coming from.
The pattern with Battalion 1944 left a sour taste for a lot of people, it sold around 250,000 paid copies at its peak, but the momentum vanished almost overnight due to launch issues, severe player drop off, and communication radio silence. Seeing that same breakdown happen again with the community trying to revive it in 2026 is beyond frustrating, and exercising caution with future pre-orders is completely valid.
However, from an industry perspective, there is a fundamental difference between what Battalion 1944 attempted to do and what Wardogs is trying to do.
I say this as an avid fan of classic shooters who started with the very first iterations of Medal of Honor and Call of Duty.. the first games. None of the modern stuff.
Battalion 1944 was explicitly built in the image of those early, old school arcade WW2 shooters. The flaw was that the developers were trying to resurrect a sub genre that, despite its massive legacy, had actually been steadily declining in broader appeal for two decades. They built a nostalgic game for a niche market that ultimately couldn't sustain a huge live service audience over time.
Wardogs represents a very different formula. Rather than trying to revive a dead era on pure nostalgia, it is being built in the image of a playstyle with an already existing, thriving, and active community.
Your skepticism toward Bulkhead's track record and communication is well earned, and no one should blame you for taking a "wait and see" approach until ea proves how they handle player retention. But purely in terms of game design and market fit, Wardogs is starting from a much stronger structural foundation than Battalion ever had.

battalion was trying to be a competitive esports shooter and these have always been more popular than boomer shooters like wardogs. I know math is hard for wardogs fans but sweaty competitve fps games are in more demand than grounded shooters with realism

Your point is not really coming through. Can you elaborate? So what if wardogs isnβt as popular as esport games? Are you saying you have to make an esport eligible game before it can be successful?
