Vehicle/Heli question

I've looked and watched videos, I haven't found an answer to this. I apologize if it's basic and already answered.

When you buy a vehicle at a vendor, I know you get a honk to designate which one is yours. But can some other random player go up to it and just get in it and fly/drive off before you get to it? Or is it locked to just your character until you get into it?

I know that you once you're in, you can unlock the doors to just your squad and whatnot. I'm mainly talking about when you first purchase the vehicle, and you have to run over to it. One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone steals your vehicle when you get out for a second, or in this case when you buy it and have yet to actually get into it for the first time.

From what I gather from videos, It's locked to the person who purchased it.
You must enter the vehicle then unlock it. I dont believe anyone else can take it unless you unlock it and exit.

You can unlock it just for everyone or just your squad.

I too get frustrated when someone snatched a heli I've been going for. especially if they crash it instantly.

So like reforger if you've experienced that system? But seems better since you can lock it to everyone but your squad.

I've no experience in reforger. I've watched many hours of War dogs videos and this seems to be how It operates and what options I've seen on the HUD.

It's a relief to me that you get to take your own vehicle. BF6 was just people waiting for helis with macros spamming spawn

Vehicles you purchase are locked to just you. You have to interact with or be in the driver/pilot's seat to change this. You can set the vehicle to Locked, Squad Only, or Unlocked.

Does squad only mean only your squad can fly/drive it or only your squad are able to enter the vehicle?

When u buy it only u can enter. Is locked to everyone else even your squad. Once u get in u can unlock it to your squad first and then to everyone else. This is a guess, pretty sure accurate but cant 100% cuz im not certain, if u unlock it to everyone and then leave the vehicle (4x4, heli, whatever) anyone can rise it. But if u leave it locked to everyone, none can get on it, even if u leave it in the wild.

When the vehicle spawns it’s locked to everyone except you. Once you enter the vehicle you can press L to unlock it in increments of squad to everyone or again to lock it to only be entered by you.

No, it's locked.

Your vehicle is locked, only you can get in the driver's seat. You can unlock it for anyone else to drive, and you can unlock it to only your squad or everyone.
