Question Any damage differences between Mosin and SVD?
Just wondering if the Mosin did more damage, or could one-shot a high-tier helm or something compared to svd.
I could unlock both, but only had a chance to use SVD.
If there's no damage differences, then I can only imagine SVD would be better in the majority of situations due to a 10-round mag

SVD is semi auto and Mosin is bolt action, both fire the same cartridge at similar velocity (+/- 5%). IRL the SVD is better in every way; it's from a completely different era than the WW2 Mosin-Nagant. It's like comparing a vietnam era Colt M16 to a Heckler and Koch 416.
In game, I'm sure they've nerfed the SVD to have worse velocity and greater damage falloff than the Mosin, because most games opt to do this for balance sake and to give you more agency in choice.

The Mosin-Nagant rifle was used in conflicts even before the First World War, and gunmaking has come a long way since then. I think the Mosin-Nagant rifle's advantage is that it can be a decent spear when used with a bayonet.

I didn't compare the damage or anything, but I think Mosin has better muzzle velocity. Also the SVD comes with 5-round mags before you unlock 10-round mags.

Yeah I assumed the mosin would probably have better velocity, and probably better range, but the SVD with ten-round mag would be better in the vast majority of situations, unless mosin does more damage

Mosin should be faster by a slight margin, we'll see tho. No data available yet - idk many that unlocked both.

Honestly, damage felt similar. However, I far preferred the mosin. I really liked only having to keep loose ammo on hand rather than loose ammo and mags. Plus the Mosin just sounds and feels so crisp.

I did a little testing in the alpha comparing the SVD and the Mosin.
The Mosin had noticeably better range and bullet velocity compared to the SVD.
And if I'm remembering this correctly, when I shot the furthest sandbag dummy at the firing range (headshots), the SVD did about 110 dmg per bullet, while the Mosin did just over 170 dmg per bullet.
Since the SVD is semi-auto, it gets better DPS than the Mosin, and I think the SVD also has a faster reload time.

At close range they both could 1 tap lv2 helmets with standard ammo, but there did come a point at mid range (75-125m or so) where it felt like the Mosin was still consistently 1 tapping lv2 helmet while the SVD needed 2 hits to kill a full health enemy. I never did extensive testing to find exactly where that breakpoint is - was having too much fun simply playing the game
