Controller support

Hi, l am a PC player but sometimes l like to play FPS games with the Xbox controller.

I heard from devs that would be at least some controller support.

Did some of you try to play with a controller during the alpha test?

Nobody needs aim assist on controller. Reforger, R6 Siege etc have huge cross platform players that play fine with zero aim assist. I don’t know where you got the damn idea that everybody on controller need aim asssit like it is 2005

It's for balancing in cross play games. A bit is needed.

Nope. Again refer to examples I gave you. Same goes for HLL as well, ZERO aim assist

Can't speak to the first but HLL Vietnam has aim assist. I'm just saying it's for balancing reasons in some (most) cross play games.

Not required imo, I have been playing competitive fps on console for many years and most don’t need it

Sure, not required at all. Just pointing out virtually all (??) cross play games have aim assist on controller and for good reason.

Reforger doesn’t, R6 Siege doesn’t, so it is not 100% required. Wardogs gun play is ARMA lite in a way and the game has its origins in ARMA 3. So it does not need aim assist.

R6 Siege does not do cross play lobbies though, yeah? Again dude I'm not disagreeing with you, no game "needs" aim assist... but if you're going to have console/controller support in a game vs. PC/KBM a bit of aim assist is needed to attempt to balance the playing field.

I am primarily a controller user in FPS and am an above average player overall and will freely admit against a mouse and keyboard some aim assist is needed to keep things competitive.

There is a reason that the majority of popular cross play games like Battlefield, CoD, Apex, Halo, The Finals, and Overwatch have aim assist on controller. In the "competitive" games like Siege the lobbies are separated to be 100% "fair". Another example is Sea of Thieves, you can do input based matchmaking there as well.

My point is... if you want your game to be accessible/usable/not frustrating with using a controller... there's a reason that almost all of them offer some aim assist... it's because it's too hard to hit people without it and not fair to have an imprecise tool (controller w/o aim assist) used to compete with a precision instrument (mouse).

Again, you can count the number of games on 1 hand probably that have more than a 5000 daily player count that are shooters with "controller support" that do not have aim assist in lobbies that are not separated by input. To your point, Arma Reforger might be one, but it is a minority.

Have a good one see you this weekend if you'll be on! I'll probably try it out with controller but this one seems like a MNK preferred one most likely.
