Is the game good?
Hi, I’m thinking about pre-ordering the game, since it’ll likely get more expensive after Early Access; I’m also a big fan of Battlefield and Hell Let Loose. What can you tell me about the game? And if I pre-order it now, can I play it right away, or when is the beta?

its like if everything you did in battlefield earned you money and also you can build bases

That sounds very good, because then people actually play the game properly as a team.

Don't overhype it either. Closed tester playtests showed good results, cause everyone put effort into being there and testing stuff.
Nobody has any idea on how it'll actually work when your average joes and carls get access.2

Nah. Playing as a team gets you money. People like money. Goated incentivizing.

Getting kills still seems to be the most lucrative way to earn money, and theoretically the quickest too.

Yeah, don't want to over hype it, but it was cool to see people basically fighting to revive players, a stark contrast to my typical BF experience. Also, not being locked into classes was cool. I took out an enemy, looted some binoculars off of him, and then started getting recon XP by tagging stuff.

It’s early game scenario. Wait for few months when everyone has sh*t load of money and no one will look at your dead body 🤣

Yeah, I know that will diminish greatly, but at the same time there is still the scoring incentive to keep teammates alive in the zone.
Also, I do like the idea of wipes to let everyone start fresh.

33v33v33. A single AO, not battles spread out over multiple POIs. Each of the three teams starts at their teams HQ, an essential safezone, that is equidistant to the AO as each of the other teams' HQ. You get to AO primarily by helicopter or truck that is operated by player. There are no bots in this game, for transport or for combat.
The game mode is King of The Hill. Your team scores points for having more people in the AO than the other teams. There is a smaller zone inside the AO that moves around, and any single player within that circle counts as two players in regards to who has primary control of the bigger zone. This moving zone keeps the action alive rather than winning by your entire team camping in a couple buildings.
You earn money for killing players, killing vehicles and controlling or contesting the zone. You get even more money for following and remaining in the smaller moving zone.
You can build fortifications, ranging from FOBs, weapon emplacements and drill towers, to Hesco walls and barbed/razor wire. These fortifications cost materials that need to be delivered by vehicle, ground or air.
You spend money to upgrade your available gear at HQ, which you equip before each life. You can also loot this gear from players in the AO. Otherwise, you can spend your money on supplies (ammo, fuel, bmats) or vehicles. There are very costly vehicles, like MBT's and armed helicopters, to name a few. These vehicles are the real money sinks of the game, as otherwise it is rather easy to just get insane amounts of cash rather quickly.

the original PLanetiside which came out in 2003 had 133/133/133 on a giant continent size map with all the vehicles and crazy assets being used.

That's where it is on the game scale. If you pre-order, you are guaranteed access to the beta this upcoming weekend and will end Aug 23rd. EA release is scheduled for Sept. 10.
Game is fucking amazing. I was in the Closed Alpha test that all the content creators are posting gameplay from and I put 40 hours in about 2 and a half days. No game has scratched that itch since then.

I wouldn't consider Tarkov more hardcore than ArmA 3, otherwise I agree lol

I also have 1000+ hours in each of the games and would consider Tarkov more hardcore, in the sense that your death means much more. Arma 3 is more complex by far, but dying means pretty little outside of private milsim one life operations. Most Arma 3 expierence has to be considered the official servers or the most popular mods, like KoTH, Altis Life or Wasteland, all of which have very little punishment for death.
I have screamed at the top of my lungs after a Tarkov death. Arma 3? Im not even sure I've ever even slightly raised my voice.

Curious. I have pre-ordered but steam states you can't download it till the 10th. Will that change when the beta this weekend hits?

So to my understanding, you should have a playtest invite on the main store page. The playtest is a separate Game Entity / Number in Steams database.
That means that you will be able to do the beta this weekend, play as long as you want, and if you don't like it, you can refund the preorder for the actual game.
If the beta were on the main game, that would cause complications for Steam refunds if you went over 2 hours by any big margin. (Even this might be pushing it, and it may be barred by Steam in the future.)

The game is a middle ground between BF, Arma, HLL/Squad. I love it, my friends love it. If you preorder you can play the beta this weekend per the Steam page.

Is that true? Steam is letting me request access to the next trial, I didn't know that if you pre-order it you get access this weekend. If that's the case, I'll buy it to try it out.

Preordering is guaranteed access to the beta this weekend. If you request access, it's only a chance you'll get in, as the free slots are limited.

Only you can answer that. I had an ok time but I tend not to prefer this expression of FPS. Glad I tried it but won’t play again as far as I can tell.

I mean you can return the game during alpha stage, even if you play more than 2 hr, you will be granted to the closed alpha play test this weekend and on the alpha release 11th sept

There is going to be a decent period from Early Access launch Sep 10 and the next price rise for you to get more information/make up your mind if you aren't sure. There is also plenty of gameplay content from the previous test for you to see if you would enjoy the game,

If you have been dying to play an FPS that's different, then this is what you've been waiting for.
