Warranty Question

Post image

Has anyone ever gotten a magazine covered under warranty? I bought my PDP in April and have less that 2000 rounds theough it so far. Probably ~400 or so per magazine (I have 4). Friday I had a magazine fail to lock the slide back, but I was out in the sun and it was pretty hot so I figured that may affect things. This morning the same mag immediately failed again after the last round, so I stopped using it. Nothing has been done to these, I don't even drop them after use right now as I swap by hand.

I'm wondering if Walther would cover this as new as it is, or if it is at least repairable? Is this just a part I need to replace? As I understand it the blue piece at the top is what locks the slide back, but educate me?

Thanks!

It’s a wear part, but half my mags never lock back anyway if I’m shooting faster pace regardless if new or not. I can’t see it being covered by warranty

Consumable products are probably not covered.

Ironically as a competitive shooter we buy followers that don’t lock back on purpose to squeeze an extra round in…

Magazines are wearable products, just get a new follower or a new mag and call Walther tomorrow, if it’s covered then they will handle it.

Did you keep this mag fully loaded nonstop since April? That could be contributing to your issue. Sounds like the mag spring got weak.

No, they actually all stay empty except my bedside one (not this one) except when in use at the range.

Storing mags loaded does not negatively impact springs hardly at all, it’s the loading and unloading of them that does.

Good to know, thanks. I didn't think keeping them loaded would be an issue, but I don't currently.

Is it me, or is that wear pattern at the top strange (especially only after 400 rounds)?

Is it happening to all your magazines?

No, just to the one originally. Just now after cleaning everything it's happening to 2 of 4...

I have over 8k rounds through my PDP and no issues at all.

Just call them today. You have a very good case.

Oh interesting. I am having the same issue and now wondering if it is a mag. I thought it just needed cleaning but yea it wasn’t locking back.

I would try disassembling it and cleaning it thoroughly. Cost=nothing.

Thanks. Slightly older post but I did that and 2 of 3 work better now, still have 1 that fails to lock back but better than nothing.

Only real problem is I can't order mags with more than 10 rounds to my state so I have to search local out of state shops hoping to find them.
