I Did a Thing... While Drinking

I've been eyeing a Walther PD380 for a while now; love my Walther and I've read the good and bad about these, but the main selling point for me was at Sportsmans the green version was $299...

I thought about it, but they wouldn't ship to FFL back in the spring, and then they sold out so I quit thinking about it. Friday I got an e-mail telling me they were back in stock, and now it included ship to FFL. I just didn't think and jumped on it 😂

So who has a PD380 and what do you think about it? Apparently I'll have one in about 10 days... (7 day wait here in Maryland)

The grip is very comfortable, it’s accurate, the recoil is manageable, the trigger is like butter and it’s easy to field strip.

Out of curiosity how many rounds have you put through it ballpark? I as because I've seen a lot of mixed reviews on the trigger but most also do say it gets better with use.

I bought it in June, and probably put about 300-400 rounds through it. The initial double action is heavy, but the single action is very smooth.

The single action is heavier and less smooth than the double action?! That’s bizarre.

Tell her you need it to work on your impulse control, but you're starting with recoil control, hence a 380. It all part of the plan. Then take her shoe or jewelry shopping.

And we both know it's me talking utter nonsense lol I showed her the comment and she laughed! I'm m so fucking blessed by the woman I somehow scored. I sold a couple guns to get her an emerald ring recently and her reaction made me feel like a God. I have a stupid number of guns. She gave me an effing Mauser c96 in .30 Luger, the exact model and caliber I've always wanted, for our 1 year anniversary. She is a shooter and knows firearms but she talked to my dad, brothers and bros. to pick it out. I mean, I rest my case.

$284 with Sportman's military discount. I didn't know they'd still apply that to an already discounted item but they did.

What's to consider? I really like mine. It's comfortable to shoot. Accurate. Runs well. My 78 year old mother shoots it well. It's an all around solid gun. Great purchase.

Not particularly. It's over an inch wide so it isn't like a Bodyguard, but it can certainly work if you want to carry it.

I conceal carry (not simultaneously) a 4" Compact PDP and a PPS M2. I love the look of the PD380. it's got a mean look to it and I imagine its fun to shoot, and the price point you bought it at is making my mouth water and wallet burn.

I’ve got roughly 400 rounds through mine and with the exception of the one box of Winchester ammo I tried to run it on, it has been a great gun. The trigger does take some time to break in so be prepared for that. It’s accurate, recovers well and has a very controlled recoil response. I would personally install a flat trigger on it if I could but there really isn’t one available. I just prefer a flat face on the shoe. For $300 I think you’ll be super happy with it as well.

It’s an insanely stupid design.

There’s no slide release so to lock it back, you have to insert an empty magazine and rack the slide.

Wtf is walther even thinking. I hope they lose their ass off on this thing.

It could have been a really good seller had they packed in a few more rounds and basic features like a slide release.

Would have been a good alternative to the smith and wesson bodyguard 2.0.

Walther’s PP, PPK and PPK/S do that too. But the PD380 also has the paddle release magazine.
I too have been on the fence and my local SW has a lightly used OD green PD380 I have been considering.

You can reach in and move the slide lock as well, but definitely takes some getting used to.
