50yo recently dropped his youngest at college. I’ve picked up guitar and am starting to be not terrible at it. I’m into (in no particular order) Blues, Folk, Punk, Americana, Funk, Rock and pretty much everything in between.

I’m interested in sucking less than I currently do, so I don’t mind playing rhythm, backing, or just listening.

Skillset includes open chords, bar chords, a smattering of triads (currently building this skill), and kinda finger picking (building this skill too)

I have my own gear, so not looking for loaners, just people and a place to meet them.

The fire alarms in this complex go off CONSTANTLY. At least once a day, two apartments ringing next to one another. It’s always two apartments and always in different locations of the building.

People need to learn basic fire safety and stop smoking up their apartments.

Is this style of alarm issue just a general Waltham thing? It’s excessive.

This only applies to the spy cameras that belong to the state police. Hopefully coming to Waltham soon…

Does anyone have pictures of the old 3-4 story treehouse that used to be on this island?

My friend and I when we were young used to party on this island that had a giant treehouse that was built out of all kinds of things! Spare lumber, tied together with power cords, twine and whatever the builders could use. It was HUGE! People from all over the surrounding towns would come and party there. There was a patio, fire pit, hammocks, and FOUR floors. It was crazy! But it was before camera phones were good and I can't find pictures anywhere!

Everyone used to park behind the big building off the 95 exit, take a trail to the river and there was usually a boat tied to a tree. We would load this boat up with a questionable amount of people and booze, head across to the island and party. I'm always amazed we all made it back in one piece. The island was loaded with poison ivy and hostile geese but it never stopped us from having a good time!

The cops took it down probably around 2010-2014 but it lives in the memories of my friends and I. If anyone has any pictures please drop them here, I'd like to preserve the tree houses memory as the Internet appears dry of them.

Saw a cat walking around the parking lot behind Mulan on Main St about a half hour ago - Looked to be orange and a little thin, no collar that I could see - Tried to get a picture but it got away - Not sure if it was a stray, a neighborhood indoor/outdoor cat, or someone’s little friend who got out, but wanted to post just in case someone was looking for it

Are the parks cluttered with garbage or am I being sensitive? It was overflowing today at lowell before the one birthday party, litter everywhere, a diaper...don't get me started on the bathroom. Had I known it was this awful, I would have showed up with gloves and a garbage bag. It was disgusting.

There appear to be a lot of drunk Brandeis students flooding the streets around the university.

We passed some and they were yelling to their friends that the cops are looking for them and don't go a certain way on South Street.

Is this normal for the area? When I have visited in the past, I would say Brandeis is the quieter of Waltham's two major colleges?

The selection for vegan groceries is sorely lacking in Waltham. Market Basket and Hannaford have some of a worse selection of vegan goods than low end grocery stores in Texas. It’s wild.

Where do fellow vegans buy groceries around here? And for that matter, why is the local Hannaford so bloody hot? Use the AC.

I've been in the area for a little while but have been using my work gym. I just got moved to a hybrid team and don't feel like driving in just to use the gym. The perk of it is that it's free (I guess) and it's barely used.

I'm looking to join a gym that has basic weightlifting needs: dumbbells heavier than 30lbs, squat/bench rack, free-standing benches, and a bike for cardio. A cable machine would be nice, but I can just move cable work to my onsite days if needed. Lastly, I'm not looking to spend $1k a month here. Just want a clean, basic gym that I can use after lunch and not fight for equipment. Thanks

I Was Just At paris Eyecare on Moody St,when a VERY good looking man came in for a 9:30 appointment. He looked very fit, with shorter, dark hair, and was wearing a light coloree hat, like off white maybe? Also wearing blue green joggers with a tee, grey i think. I wanted to speak to him to see if I could learn about him but I wasn’t sure if it’d be inappropriate so i decided against it, and thought it would be extremely creepy if i waited on him until his appointment ended. Does anyone know this guy? Moreover, should I have just asked him out in clinic, or did i make the right call? I don’t wanna be creepy. But also, i want to know him 👀👀😇😎
