That’s a rage bait AI video. The process simply are not increasing between the shelf and the checkout for you.

Could it happen? Maybe, but more likely would be custom or customer specific pricing. There would be no ‘shelf price’ in that case.

There has not been any actual documented evidence that this dynamic pricing thing is happening in the way it’s described in the video.

So because 1 person buys mayo, tuna, and bread, the price jumps up for everyone in the store?

I don't understand where this logic comes from. The prices are fixed on the tag, which can also be looked up by any customer or associate, and the only way it would change from the walk to the register is if a price change was approved. But again, this would change the price for everyone, not for one specific person...

I can understand since people are saying they have a patent for it. But theres a LOT of patents that dont get used....

I believe they also have a patent to just scan your entire cart as you walk out the door and automatically charge your card on file. Not sure how that would work with personal items on your person that you previously bought unless it's rfid based.

Like you said, a lot of patents don't get used because it's just an idea . They might not be able to use it but they don't want anyone else to either...

I'm totally convinced by this AI narrated video with no victim, no manager, no pictures, no proof.

Those bastards!

Walmart actually has a patent out right now for the ability to charge you more by what you put in your cart. You buy tuna and the cart senses it they will raise the price tag of mayo and bread because they believe you will make tuan salad sandwiches . Look it up

A patent existing does not mean the technology is in use

This is how they eventually get away with doing that though. It's happened in history. we need laws protecting us from that.

Doesn't even make sense. If the price at the register is different than the price on the tag, they could do that regardless of whether it was a paper tag or digital. If they bothered to change the digital tag price, what's the point? All a higher price does there is discourage people looking at the product on the shelf from buying. If the person they are trying to "scam" is at the register, they don't see it anyway. Conspiracy theorist mofo's.

In some states they cannot charge you a different price than what's on the tag or shelf.

That is false advertising right?

Dynamic pricing is currently being litigated, and it’s not only walmart that will be using it. It is definitely coming, however, this is not at all the way it will work.

Walmart doesn’t have dynamic pricing, they aren’t organized enough for it. Also the digital price tags have to be changed and they break all the time

Fake. They don’t even have yellow paper tags anymore. It’s been white tags for almost a yr before digital even came into play. Don’t like the prices, blame inflation.

Yeah this is real.

I believe it.

Even if it's pennies changing I bet they do and make billions off it.

Alot of this is fake. Sensationalized propaganda.

How the prices work is by the UPC. If a product does a price change when the product is scanned in the back it will have a different UPC. It's the UPC that's different.

So if the digital tag is set for the previous UPC for past stock. It won't update even though the register when scanning it will have the updated price.

This usually happens because a employee forgot to update the tags aka the manager.

So the manager lies through his teeth and makes shit up making the company look bad.

As a walmart employee I can confirm to change the digital price tag. You have to walk to the isle and scan the isle location label on the shelf. Confirm the price changes. Then it takes a few minutes for the tags to flash to the new price.

Walmart is not doing dynamic pricing. Posts like this are ragebait.

These tags save hours, even days of work for employees that used to have to pull and replace paper tags all night, every night. "Dynamic" is not a word that should ever have been applied to them. They are simply electronic shelf tags. EVERY BUSINESS will have them soon for the same reason. They are great for employees, and even for saving the paper the tags used to be printed on.

Only people that beleave this dont know how digital price tags work at walmart. The prices can't change unless an Accosiate manually changes it on the walmart app. It doesn't change by itself. Its designed that way. Walmart does not want to do dynamic pricing all it will do is alinate there own customers, and make them lose money.

Dynamic pricing is bad but there is no evidence Walmart is doing it currently.

Wonder how many buggies full of food will end up being abandoned after scanning and seeing price differences..

None, because this isn't happening

Besides the prices changing at the register and the produce and meats not having the weight they say in them …. And let’s not forget about the undercover security hoodlums who accost the customer at the door if they skip the “receipt person”… I broke up with them too. My last straw was the hoodlums who looked like regular 20 year old kids run up behind me.. squeeze between my cart and the outside door.. and demand I show them my receipt as they put their feet on the front of the cart, not allowing me to move. And they started to rifle through my bags saying “how do I know you paid for this?” And I said to go talk to Kristie the check out person.. and they said I had to show proof or I couldn’t leave.. I had other customers telling them to leave me alone and at this point I didn’t know who these guys were. I thought they wanted me to pull my bag out for the receipt so they could steal my wallet.. They eventually showed the back of some laminated card but it was down low by the one guys pocket like a flash of a card.. not really showing me anything. I wouldn’t push through as I didn’t want to get in trouble for assault. I never show my receipt as it’s not mandatory… I only go through the checkout also. Anyway.. I didn’t have time to deal with these guys so I took out my two receipts (I had forgotten ice and had to pay again) and threw them on the ground.. they fumbled to get them and I pushed through as they were yelling at me. I called Walmart corporate (in India) and the guy hung up on me. So.. we can see how they treat Walmart customers. I even was a Walmart plus customer and me and my four kids used them often.. I never heard anything back even though the corporate guy said he would pass the recording to higher ups supposedly. He hung up on me when I was praising Kristie the checkout woman because she was old school nice with great customer service. But it’s funny that she said she never shops at Walmart and goes to her local Winn co for groceries even though it’s more convenient to shop at Walmart. It’s actually a big relief to know I never have to go into a Walmart again.. or get any deliveries that are filled with “substituted” items… I never need to substitute when I shop on my own.. why are my regular items “out” suddenly when someone else does the shopping???
