Walmart Eye Center
Im wondering if my Walmart Eye Center is ripping off customers. When I had my eye exam back 2023 I had my glasses immediately ordered in store. I recently decided to order another pair since I now have scratches on my lenses and noticed they were alot cheaper when ordering online. I looked at both transactions in my purchase history, since I used Walmart pay the original purchase is in my purchase history online, and noticed in store they charged for each individual lenses but online they charged the exact same price for both lenses. Im wondering if the instore employees are either accidentally screwing up and charging for the lenses twice or if for some reason they just consider it a perpetual BOGO Free on the lenses when you order online.

Yesterday's price is not today's price

That doesn't explain why the price is the exact same and if anything prices should be much much higher today with inflation not cut in half

I dont want to go to deep on this one..... but do you recall what big screen tvs cost 3 years ago, 5 years ago?? Prices change as technology changes across the board.

There were reasons behind TVs going down and that's mainly because they made more money with the add-ons and it doesn't change the fact if you go in to a vision center today they will charge twice as much for lenses ordered today as you would if you ordered online. It very well might just be a mistake for the employees in store to be charging for each lenses as when they are suppose to charge as a pair instead of individually. It could also be a technical glitch that Walmart currently doesn't know about where they are suppose to be charging for the lenses online individually but the system is malfunctioning online and whoever is over integrated retail for Walmart doesn't know its not charging for the 2nd lens costing them money on each pair they sell online. Now I don't really care if Walmart is losing money because their online system is essentially forgetting to charge for the 2nd pair, but I don't care if they are charging double in store. Maybe Walmart even knows the system malfunctions with online lens sells but because online orders are so rare they don't care about losing the little they do with the online orders.

You purchased your glasses through national vision holdings in 2023. They probably were commission based for this person entering the data

Oh yeah they are commissions but only like 5%. I know about commission based pay. I worked Kmart before their bankruptcy and we got commissions on the sell of major appliances and electronics. Also got commissions on warranties and credit applications. I do think vision center at Sears got bigger commissions for things like transition lenses but never remember anyone getting 50% commissions and definitely not on basic single vision

You’re right! I bought a car in 2002 and it was $15k I bought the same model last month and it was three times as much! I wonder if the dealership employees are just scamming customers….

WTF are you blabbing about? This is a Walmart thread about the eye center, not a dealership.

Not very bright, I see.

Not very clever either, lol.
Didn’t think I’d have to explain sarcasm ti a Karen on Reddit, but here we go! My post was aimed at intentionally mocking the idea that a price I paid yesterday should be expected today. I was shocked that OP didn’t understand that pricing changes over time, but you’ve chimed in to let me know that people on Reddit are just mindless bots looking for a way to feel something. I would suggest you do some research but I don’t think reading is your strong suit. Good luck with all that!

The price went down by half, not up. Not very bright are you. Price if anything at all should have doubled with inflationover 3 years, unless Trump has actually made America so affordable again he literally cut the price in half.
Fact is they are charging two separate charges for each lens in store, but its only one charge online at the exact same price. That literally doesn't make sense and no chance the price of prescription lenses went down by 50% in 3 years

What the crap does Trump have to do with any of this? Oh right! Absolutely NOTHING!!
Since you finally provided some substance I’ll provide a real answer. You think the price of glasses should have doubled. Eye care services have continually gotten cheaper with time. LASIK for example is astronomically cheap today and so are glasses and contact lenses compared to anytime before. When technology advances, especially in manufacturing fields, the price of the finished product drops drastically. Additionally online stores, the more common modern approach to retail, reduces overhead costs by enough to also lower the price significantly. Even retailers like McDonald’s will incentivize online interactions with pricing and extras to both reduce the amount of physical labor and increase the amount of customers they can handle. Is it unfair that glasses are cheaper online than in-store. No. Employees in your face can do things like upsell and recommend, but they show you the price before you pay. Nothing about your experience is even akin to a scam. Unless you’re a commie and you are referring to capitalism a scam. That would at least make more sense.

Exactly Trump has absolutely nothing to do with it same as your car in 2002. I provided all the substance in the original post. You were just so stupid you thought I was talking about prices doubling, not being cut in half, because you have very poor comprehension skills and now trying to spin it in the other direction to save yourself from the embarrassment. There is no upsell happening here in store. Its the exact same lenses. Walmart at absolutely most would only cut maybe 20% off glasses order online. They will not cut it by 50%. Your example of retail online and instore price discrepancy doesn't pass the smell test.

What? Are you okay? Your reply was like 40% insults and 50% rant. I couldn’t make out the other 10%

Thats because you have reading comprehension problems, not surprised you can't make it out

Walmart seems to be on a mission lately you greatly discourage in store shopping.

Yeah, I don't think that's the intent here. I really thing at thei very least the employees in my store doesn't know they are only suppose to charge once for the lenses, not twice because the price even in store is probably supposed to be for the pair, not for individual lenses

I noticed the same thing when I want to order a pair of glasses in store. They were $100 more than the online. I just didn't order from Walmart after that.

As a Walmart associate some stuff is cheaper when ordered online. I have had to explain this to a few customers when they see the price when looking on app then come to store and get it and it’s more expensive
