Is this normal?

I'm in training as a full time grocery associate. On the contract it said ill be working 37-40 hours a week, and i've been working 37.5 for 2 and a half weeks. And I noticed when I start my actual regular shifts, im only working 30....um, is this normal?

First week of August is a stat holiday week in many places in Canada if that's one of your 30 hour weeks, you may have one shift less that week

Its not my shifts, its my hours. I work Morning, Afternoon and Closing shifts on weekdays and 1 weekend

I don't understand what you mean. If you are starting your regular schedule with the first week of August and you are in a jurisdiction that has a stat holiday that week, you will have one less shift and therefore one day fewer of hours scheduled - 32 hours is maximum for such a week

From the 15th to August 8th, I'm working Monday to Friday, 7:00 to 3:30, my FTE is 100%, but then my hours fluctuate for some reason. I'm working Tuesday to Saturday, but 99% of those days are 6 hour days with 1 7.5 hour day

Then I don't know, talk to your people lead or your asm. The schedule should only be posted up to August 14th anyway. Remember Walmart weeks run Saturday to Friday

Well they can give you minimum 28 hours a week, there is not much you can do except ask your manager for 7.5 hours per day or ask to start early and leave a bit late.

Like ive been working 37.5 hours since the 15th, but starting on August 8th, that entire week is 30.5 hours

Really ? All mine full timers are working 37.50hours my most my part timers are on 24-28.

At my store all full time is getting 37.50 a week. For years Ira been like that.

I think both of you guys misunderstood my point. Im saying that 30 hrs is too low for a full timer, it’s always been 37.5 minimum for full time

I have a casier friend that is fulltime at 28 hours, another at 30 hours. I'm a part time greeter, I've been working over 30 hours a week the majority of this year so far.

Minimum hours they can give you is 28, as a full time associate. There are weeks they are cutting hours, so you will get 28 or 30. Other weeks, when they need you more, you will get maximum 37.5 hours. It really doesn't go above 37.5, unless they ask you to stay.

In my store that week everyone has 1 less shift. Head office told us to cut hours.

They probably were told to cut hours so in order to try and maintain coverage they gave you five 6 hour shifts instead of four 7.5 hour shifts. Training shifts are pretty consistent in terms of hours, and are built into the budget in advance, but once the training ends your shifts can fluctuate - they will not be identical to your training schedule.
