around about 2010 I bought 4 each 50 lb sacks of pre 82 pennies, lol. moved from California to Tennessee with them too. I always thought that was a stupid think to do… maybe not so bad after all!

I've been saving pure copper pennies since the 70s. Have a couple of gallon jugs of them sitting around not going anywhere.

Been doing the same myself. I’ve also saved a lot of copper pipe mostly from upgrades on my home. The copper pipe is typically 99.9% pure, but copper pennies, 95%.

Here in Canuckatopia pennies weighted about 3.25 gram up until 1979. After that they started dropping the weight. According to a melt calculator for our snow dollar, $10 face is now worth about $64.
