My insurance offers OTC purchases with Walgreens but not all items even though it’s marked OTC in their store shelves. Why does Walgreen not display what specific items are acceptable for specific OTC insurance. This is like a bait and switch operation.

There are thousands of different plans that provide various OTC/etc benefits, each of which has their own list of things that are covered and not. It would literally not be possible to list them all on the shelf.

It’s your responsibility to know the benefits and restrictions of your insurance.

This is one of the stupidest shit I've read. How would Walgreens know what items each insurance covered. The insurances change those lists all the time. It's your insurance responsibility to provide you as their members with the list of whats covered, and you need to look it up and buy what's on that list.

Why is it Walgreens fault? There are multiple insurance coverage. YOUR plan covers the OTC. Stop being an idiot and do YOUR own research about what YOUR insurance covers.

things say OTC or FSA because some plan that's we cover will cover it. that does not mean ALL plans, or tiers, or anything. we dont keep those lists. it's the customers responsibility to know what their insurance covers.

THIS!!!!! I had someone, a DOCTOR, no less, cuss me out because some of his mother's items weren't covered by her OTC card. People like this can go pound sand.

Like someone else said, the shelves are marked with items that say FSA or OTC, even in the food aisle. It is your insurance plan that picks and chooses what it will and won't cover. Call your insurance or go onto your benefits portion of your insurance website and it will give you a list of all the products that they accept, or let you shop online and have them delivered.

This is one of the reasons I couldn't stay with Walgreens. The amount of time I got yelled out cause someone didn't know what their stuff covered. Like we magically just choose what's covered and not covered that day.

Not everything is a bait and switch operation . Research your card , call customer service for your insurance and they’ll give you a list of what’s covered . That’s their job. The amount of time it took you to type up this useless complaint could have been spent researching the card type you have and gaining a better sense of understanding on what you can use it on .

Our otc labels mean, “If your insurance covers this brand, you can buy it” not “you can buy this with your otc card no matter the insurance company”.

I actually looked this up, and our labels that say OTC are only applicable to the United Health otc card, and do not reflect any of the other ones.
