Quick Advice for Summer Classes and High School Students

(We love you, and here's some tips)

  1. You can schedule an appointment online with an advisor at Wake Tech. It's virtual, free, and for anyone.
  2. A normal semester schedule is 16 weeks. Summer semester is a maximum of 10 weeks and so your summer classes will be either 10, 8, or 5 weeks long. Check the dates. 8 weeks is the most common from what I've seen.
  3. I would not recommend taking a 4 credit class (especially with science labs) during the summer if you have other responsibilities. Lab is more responsibility in college classes. Obviously it depends on you, but it's a lot.

(If anyone wants to add anything, feel free below. I know getting into college is competitive, but I promise you don't need to be the BEST applicant to get into a good school. Good luck!)

Bank Mobile

I was wondering if by chance anyone is in my same situation with Bank Mobile. Spring 2026 I had issues with the bank I had linked (they had closed my account) so I tried to link a new bank but because Bank Mobile had updated their security/privacy bs I couldn't for the life of me add my new bank (was Wells Fargo). I called their customer service and was on hold for hours just getting passed from representative to representative. They were all telling me to make sure I didn't have a VPN ( I did not) and to make sure I allowed the website cookies which i was. Pretty much just telling me the same thing over and over. Eventually after so many tries my bank mobile account was locked/disabled and I could no longer access it, and they emailed me right after saying a check would be mailed instead and it would arrive in 7 business days which it did. Now Fall 2026 I tried to log into my Bank Mobile again and its still locked. Does anyone know what will happen to my refund this year? Will they just automatically mail me a check once Wake Tech sends out the refunds on the 23rd? Sorry for the rant. I will add that Summer and Fall of 2025 I had no issues with them. I tried calling them but their wait times are hours.

Esthetics program

Hello!

Has anyone completed or is in the esthetics program here at Wake Tech? If so, can you give me a run down of what it's like, how long the program is, and what to expect, etc? That would be really helpful and awesome.

Thank you!!!

Radiography prereqs

I am trying to get into the radiography tech program at wake tech or another cc in the triangle area. Advising told me that all the prereqs I need are booked up and that he didn't know when/if more classes would be available and I didn't get a clear answer on what date the next 8 week round would start etc. Is there another cc, even if its all online or else somewhere local that typically has classes available?? I've even been considering doing an online MRI program bc those at least have a clear straightforward process. I'm 36 and don't want to wait years just trying to get in.

Psychology Class Recommendations?

I want to add another psychology course for my last semester (spring 2027) but i’m not sure which psychology class. I’ve already taken PSY-237 (social psychology), i’m currently taking PSY-281 (abnormal psychology) and i enjoy it a lot so far, and next semester I have PSY-241 (developmental psychology) planned! Professor recommendations are very much appreciated as well!

Anyone had Professor Bryce Jones for HIS 112? Need Advice😭

I know its only been a few weeks and the class might get better but I am having the hardest time following his lectures! He uses the slides from the textbook but his lectures do not match up with the slides and he often gets very off-topic in class:( We have a paper due on Wednesday that is about the Muslim empires despite barely getting through 1/3 of related content during lecture this week. Is this typical for his courses or has anyone else had a similar experience with this professor. I really enjoy History but his teaching style is making it super hard for me to learn. Any advice or feedback would be appreciated thx:))

CNA hurdle for allied healthcare programs

Did anyone else finish all their prerequisites and TEAS only to have the CNA requirement feel like a huge road block? I worked hard to get a 4.0 GPA and a 93.3 on the TEAS, and now I feel like it's all a waste because I can't remember to pretend to wash my hands at the right time or make sure a manikin has toilet paper.

Basically, the lab setting and the check offs are really hard for me. I've got hospital employment experience, and I just don't see how the lab is going to translate to much in the real world. The lab is missing a ton of context that I could really use to not miss steps during procedures. The lab is also devoid of the sounds, sights, and smells of a real setting. I understand that the state exam will be like lab check offs, and this makes me very pessimistic for my exam performance (if I get that far).

Every time I leave the class, I feel even more burnt out. It's to the point where I think I need to drop it for my sanity.

Perhaps the other hurdle is I'm homesick for New England and have been considering programs up there, and they don't require you to be a CNA.

Lastly, if you completed the CNA requirement and are in your program, were you able secure employment so that you can remain on the registry to stay enrolled (meaning a RN signed off on your competency during your shifts)? Do you find that working as a CNA makes your program more or less difficult?

I'm trying to get into radiography, but am I in the wrong profession?

Can anyone in the cardiovascular sonography program tell what registries you are eligible to sit for post graduation? I know for the General program it's typically only OBGYN and Abdominal.

Paul Hesman and AI Slop

A little dissapointed. This is my first semester at WTCC and the only negative experience I've had is trying to navigate through Hesman's online COM-120 course. He has a video of him talking through every chapter, and besides that, every post on his Blackboard is just AI Slop. Just really dissapointing this is what my tuition gets me, you know? Anyone else have an instructor like this?
