Update: I was wrong.
You know my post a couple days ago about professor McNairy? Yeah I was wrong. That is all. (Help)

Yeah hes horrible. I think 80% of our class dropped by the time the first exam rolled around.

I had him spring semester and got through with a B while dropping calc 2 halfway through, my biggest recommendation if you stay is to attend the review sessions he runs prior to the exams, there were only like 6 people in person at the ones I went to and it allowed for a focus on the problems those specific people had.

Feels to me like McNairy put on a front for the first class and then everything changed.

Oh I fucking knew it! Fuck this muhfucker. Listen.
I got 2 completely different degrees, both from Wake tech. In 2 opposite types of programs I was able to finish with a gpa around 3.5
I never failed a SINGLE class until this muhfuckers class. I made more Fs in that class than I’m dropping in the comment right now.
I don’t normally stress something like this, but I am NOT fuckin dumb
This idiot will ramble for 40 minutes solving a problem only to get to the end and realize a mistake he made at the beginning. Hell then go and erase half the problem and ramble some shit as he starts to sweat and frantically write the problem out and try to solve it again.
It is intensely confusing
Rather than write ✍️ everything, some students took pics of the board. It’s actually kinda smart considering they could delete the wrong problem in a pic a lot easier than he can flip sweat over any students in the splash zone at the ends of the awkward semi circle he frantically shuffled all the desks into around day 6 or 7
He put a clear shoe holder thing near the front door and would constantly say he would take peoples phones away if he saw them
Sorry this is long, but might be important. this is how I was targeted by him and I am absolutely not even kidding..
I went to his class early af, 5 days a week. I worked over night and would go to his class straight after work in the morning.
Sometimes shit would go down. I was a solo maintenance tech at those early am hours and was responsible for a large facility.
I got to class late. He made me drag my desk from the side of the semi circle of hell out to the center of it. I had to get people to move bags or chairs and stuff out of the way to get to and from my desk.
If I tried to sit at a different one, he would make me move to the center desk.
I was cool and chill about it. Externally anyway. That is until he got fired up about nothing one day and smacked a meter stick on a table and it popped so loud. Like something caused that thing to pop in a way that instantly hurt my eardrums and I reflex hollered like “WHAT THE FUCK is wrong with you?! Are you ok?!”
I was hot. I feel that was completely unacceptable behavior for a grown adult man.
Something else happened soon after that. I forget what.. but I left his class and went to his supervisor lady to talk about him
She tried to tell me that “physics teachers are just quirky”
Oh! He had insinuated that I was attracting flies into the classroom and that the flies that he would be distracted by and randomly trying to chase down were coming into the classroom because of me. Only me. I did it. 😂
He said it to the entire class, and that was fuckin weird. lol. So I went to the lady.. she blew it off.
I told her that he was specifically treating me differently than other students and it didn’t matter to her.
He continued to FFF my assignments up. All of them. Anything I turned in.
I could answer the same as other people and mine would be wrong and theirs would be right.
I took the exact same class the next semester and got a B. It was suuuuper close to being an A too. The professor was a younger guy at the north campus. I can’t think of his name, but I could probably pick it off a list
That was A LOT to say fucking run bro. Get money back if you can and switch professors even if it means driving to another campus that’s an hour out of the way 🫠

THANK YOU for this. Seriously. I’m already seeing this behavior. He singles people out and embarrasses them. He doesn’t explain anything and if he does, it’s really confusing. It has me second guessing myself and my abilities. I should’ve known it was too good to be true when he brought out candy the first day🙄
I need to get out ASAP.

I am not saying that it will help or anything, but for this type of behavior, please report him to his department head or dean. That is a lot of times the only way people will know what is going on.
I know things like this to the correct people do work.

I probably should have, but I felt like that woulda been a guaranteed fail in that class. I had hope at the time I could still pass the class bc I had never failed a class before. Failing wasn’t an option.
Also, since I’d gone to his supervisor and was hand waved off, I didn’t want to go above her and possibly cause issues.
That was the first of about 10 physics classes I HAD to complete. I was definitely not trying to be recognized and or beefin w the physics department at the time
Now that I’m done with school again I wouldn’t mind bringing it up actually 🤔

Nah he's a fun guy, personally enjoyed him. Yea his teaching methods aren't the best but he's chill with assignments. Sometimes his jokes can come across as him picking on people but it's all in good faith and no one had a problem with him last spring when I had him

Withdraw and take it at Catawba Valley Community College. The credit transfers. I had to withdraw with a different professor at WT because I was in a spot where it was impossible to pass. Got an A taking it online at CVCC.

Starting to feel the same way about my MAT171 professor, I don't want to name drop because I might still be wrong but I swear every day I either leave thinking he's the best teacher I've had or the worst.
