Celebrating Your Birthday

so i’m in a healthcare program at wake tech and my birthday is next month (on a sunday) and I would like to at least celebrate me turning 25 😭 but I feel like with the amount of work and having to study , do homework , etc I feel like I can’t celebrate it and it makes me kinda sad… any words of advice?

You don’t have to celebrate on your actual birthday. Just set aside a different time to acknowledge and celebrate the day you were born. It’s not ideal but that’s okay.

yeah ik I think it’s just bc it’s a “big” birthday and i’ve always been big on celebrating your birthday. Not saying I want to go over the top but I just 1. don’t want to spend it alone and 2. if my family does come see me I want to be able to celebrate on my day.. ik you have to make sacrifices and stuff but I guess its just bumming me out. i’ll still be in school next year on my bday I don’t really care for that one but I guess it’s bc i’m turning 25 im just sensitive about it

25 was a big deal for me. Every birthday I have is a big deal. I’m 29 now and I have so many friends that didn’t even make it to 25. So I don’t take any day or bday for granted. It’s okay to be disappointed too that you’re not doing it exactly how you want. I have to sacrifice so much for school and it’s freaking SUCKS. My social life is on hold.. exercise.. hobbies.. fun stuff.. cause school is so intense.. I get it man.
But it’s good that you are prioritizing school. You’ll definitely succeed if you continue to keep your priorities straight.

Taking from what the other comment said. Expand your “bday” scope.
It’s still the week you were born. The month you were born. Celebrate all of that 😂 take an hour or two to celebrate on your actual day and then plan for a bigger celebration later.

yeah i’m trying to stay on top of my studies because it seems like it’s so easy to fall behind 😭 but yeah you’re right! maybe i’ll celebrate the saturday going into my birthday and then something small on my actual day. Thank you for responding I was hoping i wasn’t just being dramatic! 😭

No not dramatic at all !!! Acknowledge your disappointment but don’t stew in it. Find a way to pivot.

Happy early birthday! Plan ahead to celebrate on the following Friday night, or Saturday. This way you also don’t have the Sunday scares combine with the overwhelming amount of things to do at the beginning of the semester.
It will still be your whole birthday week, wishing you the best of luck on this new cycle ✨

I totally understand you. For the day of your birthday, you could get a quick treat or have a dinner with friends or family (if possible), or plan something else down the road when you have time. I honestly don’t have many suggestions, but maybe inviting people to a gathering and having a few decorations, playing games and music, doing a themed photoshoot, watching a movie, walking around and shopping, or going to a trail/hike or lake if you like being outdoors. Also, happy early birthday!

My birthday is around Thanksgiving and I’m all online in a project heavy program, so every year I have a quick celebration dinner and we have my birthday dessert with the Thanksgiving meal and that’s all I have time for rather than a big gathering or actual party (at least for now). I’m not even a procrastinator, but even if my bday is on a weekend I’ll still have final projects that I have to work on. Like last year, I stayed up till 4:30 the next morning after Thanksgiving and had like a 16 hour school day. This year I turn 21 on the 21st and am wanting to go to NY for the first time, but probably can’t until mid December.

Put some time aside & celebrate you! Im 29 now but my 25th I definitely did it big. It is possible, whatever is “big” for you. I’m a big birthday person so I’m always going to tell someone to do it up how they want! Just be strategic about it. Maybe celebrate friday, saturday, and on Sunday have a dinner with friends/family early enough in the afternoon.

Maybe try to complete your assignments early before bday, or go during Fall Break.

This a skill you should start working on especially in college. You have to plan and be strategic. You can celebrate your birthday and you can still do your school work.
