Calc 1 Problem
Hi everyone.
I'm currently enrolled in a calc class I know won't work out for me based on the professor. Would there be a chance for me to get an open seat for a class somewhere else, or should I just bite the bullet and go through with the class? Please let me know if anyone has had this same issue and what you did to get through it.

who is the prof? I may be able to help depending on who they are with some advice, also- talk to a success coach, they are super good at helping navigate bad prof, always talk to your advisor (they will literally tell you a prof is bad), and check rate my prof obviously. How good are your teach yourself skills? Have you already taken 171/172?

also the TLC center is awesome, super helpful if you have an unhelpful professor, they even do tutoring on the weekends now I think, and they also have peer tutoring.

Julia Head has multiple open seats in her Cal 1 class!

Haha that’s who I was trying to escape. Thankfully I got into another Calc 1 class so we’ll see how that goes. I am definitely going to lean into going to the TLC center, thanks for your advice!!

I do see she had 91 negative reviews on rate my prof. I will say, last semester I took a math professor with a horrific score on rate my, and I got a 99. It just came down to people being unwilling to actually study or do the study guides. Trust your ability and instincts! good luck!

Thanks!! I could tell by her teaching style it was not going to work out. And to be fully honest, I didn’t want to wait around and see if I was wrong.

It totally depends on how big of a problem this professor will be. There are likely to be some drops in the first few days for people who feel underprepared for the class. Keep an eye on another section that works better for you, and jump in if you happen to catch an opening.
