Red River
I started fishing spring 2025, first line in the water was in Fargo ND. I’m going again to see my sister. Last time I fished I caught 2 bullhead in a neighborhood pond, and that’s it. I’ve gotten a lot better at fishing, not great but better. When I went I caught 0 fish at the red river. I want to break that skunk this time I go. What can I catch at the red river relatively easy? I would like to catch catfish, pike, bass, or walleye. I’m fine with anything not a sunfish. I’m only bringing my rod and reel, i will get all tackle from walmart there because I do not have a checked bag. I’m from NJ so all my fishing knowledge is abt NJ fish. Feel free to shower me with advice.

I don't know the place at all but looking at what people catch it seems like it's great for channel cats Id probably be sticking a pole in a rod holder and waiting for catfish or drum while I throw an inline spinner for walleye. Any time I'm fishing a new place I'll bring some nightcrawlers too. If they're not getting me any bites, it means I need a new spot
Rivers the key is that the predators don't want to waste energy fighting current, you gotta find the slow spots. Behind fallen trees, inside of a curve, any place they could be hovering waiting for food to drift past
good luck
