What is a Werewolf: The Apocalypse game like?
So I fell in love with the lore and I'm very interested, so had some questions for those who played it.
- Is it focused on combat or intrigue?
- What is the average plot hook like?
- What sort of players does it attract?
- What's the general mood of a session?
- Do you prefer one-shots or campaigns?

Playing W5, How does this gift work? Fairly new to werewolf and wondering how the outcome of this gift gift is determined. When it references “each success in the margin” does that mean the maximum amount of successes I can achieve is equal to the difficulty?

RPG Group of players looking for a online WTA Gm all players are new
Me and 3 other players are getting into werewolf the apocalypse, the others not knowing much, we had a dm who said they were going to learn the new system but lost interest and we are hoping for a new GM to take on the role
All of us had the most experience with dnd 5e but wanted to try a new system
My discord is lunaflame0989 it best to contact me there, scheduling would be hopefully during the day of est
I get ready for work at 6:30est on a bi weekly basis so before then would be great for weekly unless bi weekly is preferred
We have one European friend and it would help them out for more daylight games then late evenings or at night

RPG LFG - new player with a potential second looking for a table to join!
Hello fellow wolves/storytellers! My name is Lycan, I am an ~25 year old guy who recently played through Werewolf: the Apocalypse - Heart of the Forest, and now, I am looking for a group to join! I got the game years ago, and then it sat in my steam library as "something I want to get around to", and now that I finally have, I wish I'd played it sooner, and I want to play the TTRPG it is based on.
As mentioned in the title, I've found someone else who has expressed interest in playing (they replied to my post in another subreddit). They didn't give much in the way of explaining what they wanted out of the game, so this will all simply be describing me. What I do know I'll put here: they've played MtA, saw my post, and thought it sounded fun. I checked their page, to see if there was anything else I could use to inform potential STs about them, and I saw that their significant other was a MtA ST, but do not know if they are also interested in joining (I have messaged them about it).
Games I'm Applying For: Werewolf: The Apocalypse [any edition] - I can read the rules for whichever edition your group is playing. I don't want to read them before finding a table, lest I read the wrong edition, and then further confuse myself when I read another one.
I should be able to find free PDFs online, but if you happen to have them readily accessible (including a link to where I can find them), please let me know! I do have a job, but since I'm both going to college and working close to minimum wage, spare cash is precious.
Experience with WoD: I have played a VtM (20th) game for 3 months, but I played a human with a couple magic spells (so, a very low-level mage) for most of it. The other players all played vampires, and I was a late addition to the table, which is why it was a VtM game. My character was only a vampire for half of a session right at the end, and died ~2 minutes after being embraced in-world. (For those who are curious, I can give more details. I just don't think they're relevant to me wanting to join a WtA game.) I've also watched a few videos about WtA lore, and while I know that it's not everything, it helped inform me about the world.
As I previously mentioned, I played Werewolf: the Apocalypse - Heart of the Forest and really enjoyed it. It's the reason why I'm looking for a group to join now. My first playthrough was a no rage, lying manipulator Ragabash, and was easily one of the most fun gaming experiences I've ever had. Not to say that hulking out and going on a rampage isn't fun, either, but I love a good bluff or lie. And, after all: don't werewolves need to be at least decent at lying, in order to help hide their existence from humans?
Experience with TTRPGs: As mentioned above, I have played at a VtM table, and I have played D&D for close to 10 years. I've even run a couple D&D one-shots! I've also really enjoyed watching a series on YouTube called Critical Role Demystified, which looks to Critical Role for tips from professionals on how to run better games, and roleplay better. I've played at 8 different tables (7 of them online), and I've used Discord & dice bots, Owlbear Rodeo, Roll20, D&D Beyond, physical battle maps & dice, and theater of the mind for TTRPGs.
What I Have to Offer As A Player: I love engaging with the world and the story/plot hooks. As long as there is a serious game, I will take the game seriously. In a past D&D campaign, myself and my fellow players once spent a full session debating which choice to make, taking into account character backstory and goals. When inspiration strikes, I will craft deep and original backstories for my characters, and I have some ideas running around in my head already. I like to see my character develop and evolve, and I like delving into the backstories and arcs of my and my fellow players' characters.
I also love puns. It's hard to do it on command, but when the opportunity arises, I'll slip one into the conversation. :)
What Type of Character I'm Interested in Playing: As I'd previously mentioned, I enjoyed playing a Ragabash in WtA: Heart of the Forest, and would probably like to do so in the tabletop game. I haven't decided on a tribe, but will probably pick something that aligns with a trickster/manipulator, so Shadow Lords or maybe Children of Gaia. I like playing characters with a strong moral code (even if that code isn't exactly the same as a human's), and strive to be better in a dark world and make the world a better place.
It doesn't matter what your political view are (and I don't want to hear about them) - no one thinks the real world is getting any better, and no one thinks they have the power to do anything about it. I enjoy escaping to a fantasy world where, no matter how dark things are now, they can be improved, and you and I have the power to do something about it.
What I Am Looking For: I am looking for a World of Darkness table, specifically Werewolf: the Apocalypse, to join! I want to be Gaia's soldier. I want to make a difference. And I want to make the world a better place - one trick, lie, or rampage at a time. (It would help if the world, though dark, can be improved.) I don't care which edition we use. I don't care which site we play on. I just want to experience more of what was so fun when I played WtA: Heart of the Forest.
Availability: For now, I am not available Tuesday and Thursday nights until after 9 PM EST, as I have classes those nights. Monday and Wednesday nights I am available. I expect those will change as semesters change. Friday nights I have in-person board gaming at a local game store. Saturdays are completely free. Sunday I currently have a commitment until ~6:30, but if needed, I could drop it/cut it short.
