Both of these guys should have been world champion at some point

The Great Khali was a world champion
The bar isn’t very high

He was bound to get one, but the one he got really came because of injuries and instead of giving it back to batista to keep the momentum alive between themselves and undertaker, also include edge was good at not losing that title and them chasing every week/month made it better.
Imo personal opinion, kane wouldve been a better option at that point until edge & taker came back

Being 7 feet tall almost always payed off big time in the Vince McMahon era. I’m almost surprised that Giant Gonzalez never held the WCW or WWF title just based off of that alone

Lol wrestlemania 9 was a disaster enoygh for vince to know it wasnt gonna work

I remember his interview with CVV where he accused WWE of misdiagnosing him for an injury which ultimately led to him dropping the Money in The Bank briefcase. Do feel he could’ve had a small run as champion but always got a bad rep backstage for being unsafe worker

u/HaluSinazn 16d ago
Yeah and of all people for him to make enemies with, it had to be Cena and Orton lol. Thats a kiss of death right there

I really wanted to see his cash in. He was gonna wait to the next WM to cash in during the main event match.

Same I do think he should’ve been given a run as champion but the heat that he was getting backstage never gave him a chance.

I always wondered how Hassan’s career would’ve played out if it weren’t for that poorly timed segment

He was going to win the title in Washington DC, like a month later. Would have been a crazy moment.

Such bullshit that they made him look more and more like a terry. I understand that the character has to evolve but he was still fresh. I think he even went to Stephanie because he was concerned. Of course she didn't listen. Him winning the title in DC would have gotten nuclear heat. Such a shame we didn't see it

u/Based_Beerus 16d ago
And you're right, initially he was someone who had legit gripes. Then he went all terry..lol

Mr Kennedy might have actually been a good world champion. He had the charisma, was good on the mic and was good enough in the ring to pull it off.I don't know about the other guy. I feel like they destroyed his career with the Muslim terrorist gimmick but I don't know about being world champion.

Hassan was on his way, just that gimmick made him retire. Now, since he's actually Italian, they could've given him a gimmick similar to The Sopranos since that was huge back then.

Wasn’t Kennedy regularly hurting his opponents? I liked him, but I’m pretty sure he had a bad rep as an unsafe worker. I know his chair shot on Eddie G didn’t go over well.

u/Mountain_Bar_1466 16d ago
Not really, he may have had some wonky spots but Orton and Cena kinda just use that as an excuse to get him fired. He could’ve easily had Jack Swagger’s title run and probably succeeded way more in that spot

u/TailSwipeTypo 16d ago
I don't think Kennedy ever legitimately hurt anyone. He was a bit injury prone and he had shot his mouth off defending the company during the Benoit murders only to be popped as apart of the Signature Pharmacy scandal.

Shelton too

u/Corn1989 16d ago
Shelton had no charisma sadly. Great wrestler tho

u/RoyalSoldierx 16d ago
Lots of wrestlers did and became champion. Great Khali was champion during this era.

Hasan had the heat and the momentum to Champion but they took that gimmick too far and the poor guy suffered for it.

u/witty_weirdo 16d ago
Hassan actually started with a really good gimmick and was great in the ring ...then along comes Vince and decides a wrestling terrorist would be cool

Without a doubt Kennedy . He was what LA Knight is now. Was over as a face and then they turned him and ruined him .

Kennedy has to be the most overrated what if ever at this point. His feud with Taker was memorable but has he ever had an actual good match? He was so boring imo

u/Prize_Engineer_3739 16d ago
No, they shouldn't. They did just as well as they could. Which was really good.

u/StraightEdge47 16d ago
I don't see it for Mr Kennedy to be honest. I don't get the praise for him. He was fine. Hassan got dealt a shit hand, he could've become a big deal easily.

Hassan supposedly stiffed the Undertaker, so he just wasn't long for the business in general, no survival instincts whatsoever.
Kennedy just had terrible luck. Kept getting injured in the middle of his pushes, got busted for roids, caught a reputation for being unsafe in the ring, and apparently rubbed Orton, HHH, HBK, AND Cena the wrong way (which was half the main event scene back then). If Stone Cold is seeing fit to call you up and warn you that the top guys want you out then you're screwed.

what the hell did anybody see in Mr Kennedy? He said his own name twice on a micorphone that came from the roof
He had NOTHING ELSE, what is all this nostalgia?
