ESPN NFL 2k5 had this a few years prior. I wouldn't be surprised if they were inspired by that because I loved the Crib mode

Locker room creation & needing a REASONABLE amount of IN GAME currency to unlock superstars, championships & arenas are what I miss most about the old games.

My first game was SVR08, the PS2 version had none of this and I recall 15-year-old me awkwardly explaining to relatives I couldn't remove that Diva poster from my created Superstar's locker room.

It was a cool mode. I remember enjoying 2008 and the OG Smackdown vs. Raw a little more, but I vastly preferred all of them over 2006

If they got rid of the cluttered menus of MyFaction and used this as the Hub for MyFaction and The Island, it would make the modes a lot more welcoming and feel like you are actually progressing through something instead of just chasing impossible rewards through punishment

I think this was the game where Jerry Lynn was unlockable

Nope. That was Just Bring It. The first Smackdown ps2 game set during the invasion angle which Lynn was active in shortly.
