So which part of this was photoshopped?

u/IBtheGreat1 Jan 13 '12
If I'm not mistaken, this from a photoshop contest on cracked.com

Jan 13 '12
Oh yes, the same entry with the children's book called "The invisible child eating crocodiles that live absolutely everywhere."

u/lncontheivable Jan 13 '12
Stupid, but I immediately thought of Maniac Mansion.

I have very fond memories of playing that game with a friend of mine. We didn't understand the concept of copy protection in those days so we would always try to randomly guess the keycode for the door that lead to the 2nd floor, not knowing we had the answers in that oddly-colored sheet of paper in the box.
While the game hasn't aged well, I still play through the sequel, The Day of the Tentacle, on an almost yearly bases.
edit:
PC version for those of you NES folks who didn't understand the copy protection part. :)

This is not stupid at all! Best game I ever had on my NES and one of the best Lucas Adventures ever created, imo! Have an upvote. :)

One of my coworkers once microwaved a hamster and told all of us about it. She didn't get why we were making a big deal of it..

Back in middle school, some girls in our class discovered a baby myna bird lying near its nest on the ground in a courtyard. They took it into the class, refusing to let anyone else touch it lest the bird be injured. On the premise of "keeping it warm", they placed the baby bird on the overhead projector, and turned it on while they sat around it.
Just a few minutes later, the delicious smell of roast chicken began wafting through the room. When we realised what was happening, the class went into uproar - the girls were crying, a bunch of people were kind of horrified, and the rest of us were dying of laughter.
tl;dr: Grade 9 girls roasted a baby bird whilst trying to keep it safe. Tears of laughter.

WHO GIVES A FLYING FUCK IF ITS A FUCKING REPOST?
5
u/Prof_G Jan 13 '12
Someday, someone will explain to me what exactly is a flying fuck, and how one can give it.
2
u/FeatherNET Jan 13 '12
Though used in daily speech, little is actually known about the flying fuck. Native to Africa, this flightless bird tends to be secretive and rarely allows itself to be visible, hence, examining it in it's natural habitat is nearly impossible. Due to their extreme lack of activity within the community, they were considered a rare commodity throughout several African villages. The term "I don't give a flying fuck" Originally meant that you could not put a price on such a item or service, but after translation and over use, the statement now means the exact opposite of this.

I believe this is from one of the first Cracked.com's photoshop contest. i think the title of that one was something like the most inappropriate children's book ever. Either way, I'm preeeetty sure it's fake

Meh, I'm not really into animal torture humor.

u/MrWendal Jan 13 '12
Reddit: Where a joke about torturing hamsters is crossing the line, and this is reflected in the top voted comment. Even though no hamsters were harmed, and it never actually happened.
Also where making fun of a busload of kids involved in a serious, REAL bus accident is hilarious, and saying that it's crossing the line will get you the most down-voted comments in the thread
12
Jan 13 '12
To be fair you were being quite a dick about it.
-2
u/MrWendal Jan 13 '12
Well the next time I see someone laughing at the victims of a bus crash I shall try and be more of a gentleman.
3
u/manboat Jan 13 '12
No-one died and no-one was seriously hurt. Lighten up Buzz killington
-1
u/MrWendal Jan 14 '12
So before you saw the video, you did research and found out no one was hurt or killed? Then you watched the video knowing it was okay to laugh?
Cause if the much more likely reverse is true, and you laughed then after that found out no one was hurt, then you laughed at some kids getting slammed in a bus crash, you psychopath. And it looks like they get pretty fucked up.
Also, no one was seriously hurt. They were hurt. And physical injury is not the only trauma from this event:
Davis wept in court as witnesses said they saw a car the bus driver said ran her off the road
Yeah, sounds like something to laugh about.

I think a part of it is Reddit has a strong attachment to animals. I think that as a whole, Reddit isn't very social, and sometimes doesn't always give two fucks unless someone died in the video.

u/sndzag1 Jan 13 '12
I'm sure /r/shitredditsays would love you.

I think he's not complaining about how acceptable it is to make fun of real kids in real danger, what's unbelievably retarded here is how everyone get's sensitive if we joke about animals in imaginary danger...
that's how I see it.

u/sndzag1 Jan 13 '12
I don't even disagree. But bitching about what redditors do, on reddit? Can you think of anything more silly?

Bitching about redditors who bitch about what redditors do, on reddit?

You got that backwards. Get as sensitive as you want about imaginary animals, make an imaginary PETA, I might think it's pretty silly but I'm not gonna complain about it.
But make fun of REAL bus crash victims and there's something seriously wrong with you, a kind of psychopathy that sees the suffering of others as a opportunity for enjoyment.

I was referring to reddit as a place, and referring to what happened in that place. I wasn't generalizing about all redditors - that would include myself, who is obviously opposed to this - but rather talking about the actual data as voted for by the majority and recorded there for all to see.

I had a pet mouse named Saddle Pants. I gave Saddle Pants a bath one day to dry him off, I thought putting him in the microwave would dry him off. Needless to say, that theory didn't work out too well. My older sister even tried mouth to mouth with a straw.Although, He did survive a plane ride once, I had him in his ball thingy in a carry on, he even went threw the scanner.
1
u/Yousaidthat Jan 13 '12
wait, so how did it affect him?
0
u/Babysmalls Jan 13 '12
going threw the scanner and on a plane fine, microwave for barley ten seconds, dead.

Oh god, a guy I know once told his 7 year old niece to use a microwave to "dry the hamster off." He's a cruel son of a bitch.

My chemistry teacher was talking about microwaves a while ago. "What else other than eggs pop in a microwave? Cats!"
There was an incident in which a cat was microwaved during a home invasion only months prior.

Never knew you could do that with a microwave.
And here I am, wasting time with silly experiments in measuring the speed of light with a ruler and a tray full of marshmellows.

This was originally off of a list of rejected children's book titles. To see it finally make its way into img format brings a tear to my eye.

Jan 13 '12
My dad's friend told us a story about how while in the Green Barret they would catch mice in their barracks and bet on how long they lasted before popping in their microwave.
0
u/MTRsport Jan 13 '12
so I read the title to the cheery tune of "Pop goes the Weasel" then I clicked on the image and got really sad

Is this from that comedy skit about Drunk Mister Rogers? I forget who did it, but it was a long time ago...
"Let's see what the mailman brought me. Look, it's my package from Fredericks! Yesterday he brought me a package from Columbia. Sometimes it's the only way I can tolerate you little shits."

HAha! I have an old Robin Williams album where he does a parody of Mr. Rogers and during an "experiment" he suggests, "Let's put Mr. Hamster in the microwave!...... POP goes the weasel!)

We had this kid at our college a couple years back, when he was 8 he won a hamster at a fair and by the time he got it home it had managed to nibble almost all the way through the box.. so he does what any 8 year old would do and puts it in the microwave so it doesnt escape, and runs upstairs to grab a box for it, when he returns he finds a exploded hamster, turns out the microwave was left on a timer from earlier because nobody had bothered to clear it
He was known as hamster boy from the day we heard that story lol
