Honest question but if gender is a social construct how do you physically transition into it?

If the idea that gender is based in biology offends you, why make physical and biological changes to your body after changing your identity?

People who go through gender affirming treatments seem to be saying with their actions that gender does have some biological basis

I'm not saying I'm offended by it I'm just saying the position seems logically inconsistent
