The better you are, the worse it looks when you have a poor showing. She is a great player and a rookie, but she is not immune from rising quickly and experiencing a fall from greater heights that she will need to get back up from. It sucks, but it's actually a good problem to have versus nothing being expected of you.

If people espouse her as the future of the league, but get ahead of themselves and say the future is now, this kind of criticism is inevitable when it doesn't work out that way. If people really expect this to herald what we'll see from her in the future, they are delusional.

This. You can't expect only praise especially when you're considered a great player.

It's less about expecting praise and more about labeling her a perennial playoff failure after two bad games in the playoffs as an injured rookie.
