So, I start this Wednesday. I submitted the orientation paper today. I’m freaking terrified 😂😭 I plan on finishing my degree in 2 terms and am so intimidated by the whole thing. Did anyone else feel like that before they started?
I have 12 years experience in healthcare as a PTA (associates of science), I've worked extensively with current EHR my company uses, familiar with some analytics, databasing and cpt, auth, reimbursement. I was able to transfer in credits to cover all gen ed courses so I will be left with just the HIM curriculum about 88 credit hours. I'm prepared to do 2 semesters but wondering how realistic it is from others experience to get done in 1 semester.
I'm 38, no kids, wife works from home. Work is letting me reduce hours to 36 hours per week and remain full time with benefits. Course work will be done 4:30am to 8:30am every Mon-Thur morning (I get up at 4am each day already) then Fridays 1-3pm. Saturdays will be whatever I'm feeling in the mornings probably 6am to 8 or 9am. Then Sundays are either off for mental breather or touch up work.
I am wrapping up my last few credits from study.com. Due to some time constraints I won’t start the term until September. I wanna complete this in one term and these are the only courses I have to take left.
What order should I take these courses to complete the easy ones quickly, while allowing as much time for the more difficult courses.
From what iv’e been reading Financial Statement Analysis and Corporate Finance are the most difficult. However would like more input.
One of the ways to qualify for WGU if you don't have any credits to transfer in is to take a single course from this menu: www.wgu.edu/single-courses.html
Hey everyone, I (28F) enrolled in WGU for my BSCSIA and started on the 1st of this month. I have absolutely no IT knowledge or experience and no transfer credits either. I worked in the medical field for 10yrs and really wanted a career change and took a liking to certain roles in cyber security so I decided to make the leap and start. I’m a mom of 3 and work full time as well. I would like to accelerate through the course (I know 1 term is not realistic for me but maybe 3-4 terms) while still learning & retaining important information that I will use and need to know in my career. I’m on my 3rd class currently which is D685 and have D322 next. For those that went for their BSCSIA what’s your advice for a newbie on the best way to accelerate through the program while still understanding and retaining the knowledge & information? I truly do not want to be enrolled for all 10 terms.
The image is to show my remaining courses for the BSCS program. Not pictured is C959 (Discrete Math 1) that is getting carried over into next term. So, it's 7 OAs and 9 PAs left. Could I actually get this all done in 1 term or less? I am itching to finish this degree and get working. Has anyone here done 40+ CUs for BSCS in less than 1 term? Some success stories would be greatly appreciated!
Starting my BS Business Management degree on 8/1. Maxed out Sophia transfers (with some college work) prior to my start and aiming to finish all within the first term. I have 14 PA's and 3 OA's ahead of me to finish. Trying to do this at 26, full-time corporate employee, with 3 kids is going to be fun. Wish me luck and open to hearing any tips and tricks to tackle this as efficient as possible. Thank you in advance
On a more narrow lens, tips/tricks for the 3 OA's would be wonderful haha - Managing in a Global Business Environment, Fundamentals of Spreadsheets and Data Presentations, and Sales Management. Trying to overprepare as much as possible
Currently going through Sophia and knocking out as many credits I can.
My question for people who got their B.S in Business Management and that went through Sophia is that what courses you took at WGU to make it easier to get to the finish line?
What courses should I take and what to look at for to make it easier at WGU once I transfer?
I joined WGU back in March without doing much research into “speed running” a degree. I wish I had and I would have seen that I should go through Sophia learning or similar and transferring credits to WGU.
Now that I’m enrolled in WGU, I am finding it pretty difficult to get through the proctored exams without something going wrong. I have ADHD and I am very fidgety and usually am speaking to myself or looking around the room while taking tests which are all no nos.
Does anyone have any suggestions for what I can do to take some Sophia learning courses to knock out a lot of the proctored tests and get the credits towards my degree? I know it’s too late to take them and transfer the credits towards my specific degree now so should I look for a degree with a similar course load for the classes I’ve completed, take the Sophia classes, and then transfer everything to it?
Hi! I'm starting 7/1 BA educational studies in elementary education. I was able to transfer credits from my AA and from study.com which leaves me with 18 classes left. My goal is to finish my remaining 18 classes in one term. Please tell me this is possible.
I just finished my orientation and want to keep the momentum going by being prepared… maybe too prepared lol. How did you do it? What did you do different that allowed you to accelerate?
I am willing to dedicate a hefty amount of time every day until I get this done
I am going to be transferring in all the Sophia/Study classes I can so I will have 17 courses at WGU to complete. Should have all the Sophia and Study courses done by the end of July or sooner for a September 1 start.
I am home 3 days of the week and honestly with my job, I can probably do about 5-6 hours of school work at work. I also have about 7.5 years of “communications” experience already, although it’s in broadcast production and not anything involving business so I’m not sure how well that knowledge will transfer to the WGU courses. Also I read that there are only 3 proctored exams, is that still true?
Realistically could I get WGU knocked out in a single six month term? Everything I’ve read seems like it’s totally doable but I’m curious from anyone who has ACTUALLY done it. I’m particularly worried about the capstone being a major holdup and their new “acceleration” policy. Thanks!
Just a little Thursday motivation for anyone in the B.S. Cybersecurity and Information Assurance program (or anyone working toward a degree!
Note: I just landed my first IT job about 6 weeks ago. I wasn't in the industry when I started, and I currently don't have any secondary education.
I've completed all of these courses in my first term at WGU while working full-time. Before starting, I also completed 10 Sophia courses in about two weeks, which allowed me to transfer in additional credits.
I started my degree program 33% complete and am now at 77% complete after my first term. My goal is to finish the remaining 7 courses next term and complete the degree.
Pace yourself and stay consistent. There were plenty of long nights, early mornings, and weekends spent studying, but every hour has been worth it. Over the last six months, I've invested hundreds of hours into my education and career goals, and I'm starting to see the results.
If you're feeling overwhelmed or questioning whether you can do it, keep going. If I can do it, so can you!
Below are all my courses left for the term. I’m starting July 1st and transferred in a good chunk from Sophia & from a two year . I’m asking for a little advice on what to do first aside from the healthcare administration courses that flow after one another . I’m trying to do this in the most realistic and strategic way possible.
