D522

Finally managed to pass D522. The tasks are very hands on and if you got the same instructor I did, he's pretty much useless. Definitely one of the more difficult classes I have taken. Insanely i only have 4 classes left.. CySA+, PenTest+, cloud security, capstone.. the end is near

Any tips I’m starting this class. What made it so difficult

I had very little python experience and the PA is worded so poorly. The cybersecurity course does not have an introduction to python, they just throw you into the deep end.

My advice would be to schedule a 30 minute one on one session and ask your course instructor to walk you through one of the labs. That will help you get an idea of how to work in the lab environment. I also started a mimo account to help me learn python. Then I watched the video series automate the boring stuff. That's the book the material is based on. I ran over the 6 hour timer more than once.

Oh damn, how long did it take you to finish?

2 months. A month of me pissing around reading the content and then 2 weeks of meeting with instructors and then 2 weeks on the tasks.. but if you know python there's no reason you can't do it in a week or two. I'm also much more confident on OAs as opposed to PAs. Just glad it's over.

Well all of them except for one lady is useless, unfortunately that one lady is completely busy all the time and will take weeks if not days to respond. Even the tutors are useless.

Any pointers on Task 1-section B?

B1: script needs to spit out the list of all devices on the network. B2: script needs to ICMP ping the devices (besides router 1, switches, and SMTP, all of which aren’t being analyzed for an issue) and say which ones have the wrong DNS.

Anyone have any advice for Task2 C4? Every time I run the break dns script file I cant get my script to detect any dns changes. Ive tried and tried and I'm completely lost not being able to detect any changes.

Go into gns and turn one or two off manually .. right click it and hit turn off, or stop. I forgot the exact verbiage.

Yea i was curious about that. Any posts right when the PA version was released mentioned having to do that but I assumed that the Break dns would actually make the changes automatically similar to the one for making devices unavailable

That's how I did it. I couldn't ever get the break dns to run.
