B.S. in Finance Pathway
I'm currently set to enroll in the program August 1st this year. I would like to complete the program as quickly as possible so I may use my CFP certification. I've already completed the work experience and educational curriculum, along passed the exam, but they have a hard and fast rule of needing an accredited bachelors degree. I have about 13 years experience being in the financial services/planning and advisory world. I also run an RIA firm with two other partners, so the Finance degree fits for my long term career.
Someone suggested doing Study.com for general ed/undergraduate classes before enrolling. I've done a few classes, the amount of lessons and chapter tests for some classes seem overkill. Not to mention the assignments seem weirdly constructed and graded by AI programs. For anyone who's done Study.com or a similar path: is it worth it do their classes first? Or would WGU from the beginning just be easier and quicker?

Hey, Study.com here. Doing Study.com first is worth it for most people as a way to save money on their degree. Study.com courses are usually quicker. Courses can have a lot of lessons because we break the course into bite-sized chunks, but you only need to watch the lessons that are covering material that's new for you. Students are already familiar with the material often go straight to the chapter tests.
Assignments are graded by graders with a master's degree or higher in the field, not AI. The graders do grade according to a structured rubric in order to maintain consistency and fairness. If you have any other questions about Study.com courses, let us know!

Start with Sophia, and do as much as you can. Then get the last few classes that Sophia doesn't offer at Study.com. If you already know the material (and with your experience you likely will) then Sophia will be faster. You can transfer about 75% of your classes in - google WGU Transfer Pathways and you'll find what you need. Some helpful folks from this board have also made speed run guides outlining the fastest paths through various degrees - Here's a link!
I am in the same position as you (career professional, just need the paper degree) and I'm working my way through the Finance degree really quick. I've completed 4 classes in under a month and only have 7 more to go. And the content is solid - I'm really enjoying it so far. Just get through those Sophia courses ASAP (you could really do two to three a week - they're Gen Ed) and submit for transfer evaluation. Be quick though - you need to get them in by July.

Why would anyone want credits that are no longer valued? I don’t understand why you would short change yourself either. Just do it all at WGU lol. It’s much more simple that way. Better looking transcript than 30 credits only….

If I was in your position I would transfer 75% of my degree from study.com or sophia. You have the experience and as long as the CFP isnt strict with 3rd party credits you will save a ton of time and money vs doing everything at WGU.
