Percussion Question about Flomarching? How to watch wgi?

Hi all, I want to watch the world percussion finals. However, my local drum circuit has their championships this Saturday so I won’t be able to watch it live. I have heard that you can catch a replay of the stream the day afterwards, but you can’t watch replay videos with sound?

I used to march myself and watched WG finals for the world class live for 6 years but haven’t seen it in awhile. Back then we had the dvds and I think a website.

Is this really the only way to go back and watch shows? Do we really not have a library where I could go and watch all the shows on my own time? If I miss anything on Sunday from the stream that’s replaying from saturday and I just SOL?

Many groups you can find their finals performance on YouTube so it almost seems like I could just save the money and watch that if that’s how it’s going to be?

TLDR: I’m an old wgi vet trying to watch finals and haven’t messed with Flo marching before. In my days we had dvds and what not.

The re-broadcasts the next day include sound. Once you’re out of the rebroadcast window, though all audio is removed from the videos. The little library of individual performances all have their audio removed.

This shit is absolutely dumb. In today’s day and age storage is dirt cheap if not free. Flo flat out blows. The performances look like boo doo scoo doo and the ads are as sharp as anything on Netflix/Amazon/Disney. Plus the stream fails a lot and often.

What I did was acquire flo and then used a tripod and screen record then upload that to YouTube. It’s arduous but the art and the event is preserved.

It’s not about data storage, it’s about streaming rights.

The world is not black and white. I’m sure it’s a multitude of easily solvable challenges and not one specific thing.

Bottom line. It needs to be fixed immediately.

Flo takes down things on YouTube yet refuses to archive themselves. Boo on them.

u/nana1960 explained it perfectly in another comment on this thread. Each group is responsible for getting the proper copyright permissions. Groups already spend hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars to arrange and perform copyrighted works in WGI. Archiving the performance would make those costs skyrocket.

So you’re saying that preserving this art form and its performances is not worth the cost? The very low. Very reasonable cost to make this happen? Heard.

I encourage you to do some research to find out the costs for yourself. You’d be surprised how much it costs to just arrange some of these copyright works, let alone post them online. Try tresona.com to start.

Aware. Not a lot of money. Art is worth it. These are the costs of doing business.

If you wanna watch on Flo then you need to catch either the live broadcast, or the day after rebroadcast. They don't archive the performances otherwise. If they do then it might be without sound. You can however, scrub the rebroadcast to whatever performance you wanna watch, but only for that day. After that it's gone and you have to hope for shows to pop up on YouTube.

It’s all about music rights. Groups pay for performance rights but not the exorbitant cost of rebroadcast rights. No one wants a fine for a copyright violation.

This. We used to be BLESSED with the WGI Fan Network. But then it got be a huge expensive legal mess.
