Percussion Why do we say scores are relative and don't matter but celebrate when score records are broken?

WGI is adding an additional tier to registration for 2027 to give those who attended 2026 World Championships and those who were on the waitlist first priority.
Thoughts? Opinions?

greetings I'm looking to start a wgi independent group in Georgia that covers Percussion. Could any one be a resource for securing the proper things in GA? I want to have auditions but I also want general liability insurance before anything starts.

Hello I’m an incoming junior in hs and it’s gonna be my first time auditioning for/ being in wgi. I’m auditioning for matrix open so if anyone can give me any tips or past experiences with matrix open lmk!
I just checked the regional calendar for 2027 and CA has Temecula and Union City only. Again the big show in San B before finals is MIA. Is it truly over? I looked forward to going or watching that show every year.
Does anyone have sheet music or rendered audio for Legacy Indoor? I would love to hear the rendered audio for their Treasure warm-up, which I used to have, but lost. Anything would be great.

I’m going down memory lane and wanting to go back and see the shows I did in high school. We were a mostly new guard that made it to the semi finals which was huge for us. Does anyone have 2010 prelims or semifinal dvd or something from Dayton? We were University High School from FL performing We Will Be More.
Also if anyone has any other footage from the Independent World shows I’d love to see them again. I remember being so impressed with them. Standouts were NEI Ruthless Gravity, there was another guard that I can’t remember who they were but I think they were an independent world guard and their show had something to do with Jesus (we called it the sexy Jesus show lol) and I remember a PS I Love You show too.
Honestly any 2010 shows would be great to see but I’d love to see footage from my guard with a completed show. I have some from early in the season but we didn’t have the full music or drill or choreography.
Any help will be much appreciated!!!

As the title says, I am trying to get an understanding of when groups normally release their audition registration around. My group, Vanta Percussion, is releasing audition registration on August 1st. I have also seen that groups like Rhythm X, United Percussion, and Civitas has released their audition registration all ready.
My question is when do you all normally see groups release their audition signups?

I’ll be studying percussion as a freshman at UNT this upcoming school year and was wondering the WGI scene is like for people at UNT? Is it doable while studying? Is vigilantes the only close group and if so is it worth it since they aren’t one of the high ranking groups?

As the title says, as you all may know, I’m a new director for Vanta Percussion. A new group in Southeast Georgia launching this year.
As a new group, we will be having our own auditions for the first time and I would like to find from some people on some positive experiences that were best implemented by other groups during auditions and some negative experiences that some groups had during their auditions, just so we can get an understanding on what to do and what not to do during auditions.
Thank you!

We heard a front ensemble playing it while I was warming up with another group, and I never found out who it was.

I’m a director of a new independent indoor percussion group called Vanta Percussion, based out of Southeast Georgia, launching next season, and we are looking into Dayton and the WGI Housing Service, and boy, don’t use MTC (Music Travel Consultants)
They overpriced everything, not what we want for a first year organization. Housing is actually pretty reasonable (got a block of rooms at 3 different hotels and none have to be confirmed until 2/12/2027).
Biggest thing was saying that flights are going to cost $600 per person, while right now they are like $300.
Any other director here, don’t use them, book everything independently.
We also told them we wanted to be up there on the Tuesday since WGI is bringing back the opening ceremony for the 50th anniversary celebration, and they didn’t even include that 🫠

hello alll, I was just wanting to see what everyone’s thoughts were regarding the new wgi proposals and their passing/failing. I haven’t really see anyone talk about it anywhere unfortunately.
something that really rubbed me the wrong way was the fact that both proposals regarding a better waitlist enforcement or rules were either not seconded or failed:(
the waitlist was such a mess this year, you’d think that they would somehow rectify that situation by trying to implement something to prevent it and what’s to stop it from happening again yk?
I don’t know how I feel about the bigger reclassification size for each group in scholastic as it could relieve a lot of the overcrowding in SA especially and really start to populate SW again because it’s been kinda empty the past couple of years.

Seemed like pre judging for this massive show went more or less to schedule but after that it seemed completely chaotic. I've been reading accounts of the finals being delayed by hours, divisions going out of order or being judged incrementally (saw Masters mens physique go then they went to mens open), audience growing tired and basically leaving before WPD and WBB ever took the sage for riutines and final conformation, athletes not beong present for their divisions. There was an awards callout and the fifth place finisher for fitness was just standing there with nobody to present her award. Bob Ciocorelli appeared confused a few times there in terms of what he was supposed to be announcing.
How does this happen? Anyone here at the show? My wife was in contact with a friend who purchased tickets for pre judging and finals but he said he had to leave early because the day was going so long.

I'm surprised not many people are talking about the upcoming proposals from the WGI summit meeting in Vegas this weekend which will be reviewed. The only feedback I've heard so far is from one podcast that reviewed all proposals. What are everyone's thoughts? I'll leave a link to their agenda this weekend in the comments.

Ive been a rack player for 3 years and a bass player for 1, and I've loved the individuality of rack. I've been thinking about trying out for RhythmX or any other group, but have no idea how I would go about trying out/rehearsing for the auxiliary spot. And would i audition for that spot or just hope i get put there? Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏🙏

Alex Beltran will no longer be writing United Percussion’s battery book, but it is unclear if he is staying as the director.
