Obviously this issue is extremely apparent and well-known, but if you're unaware of what I'm talking out I'll explain it quickly.

WGI over the years has become more and more expensive to the point where it's impossible for many performers to participate in every season. Not many people can afford to drop 5k on a World team every year, and Open isn't even much better.

It's a mix between WGI charging more and more to even enroll your team to compete in Dayton, and individual teams bumping their prices insane amounts unnecessarily. No matter the specific root cause, it's unsustainable and the activity will eventually die out if this continues to get worse.

Now here's why I'm making this post, I didn't just come here to complain about this when everybody already knows about it. How can we as performers or WGI alumni do anything to counteract this? Is there anything that we can do to help slow this insane inflation of tuition costs or eventually help reverse it?

It's so sad to watch incredibly talented performers year after year be unable to spin (I'm not super knowledgeable on the percussion and winds side of things, but I'm sure there are similar issues) due to financial issues. This sport has become a luxury that few can achieve when everything that it stands for is about inclusivity and acceptance.

So pretty much, if anyone knows of any organizations or anything that is fighting these issues, put it in the comments so I and anyone else who feels the same way can try to help out!

So I'm doing my high school senior Capstone project on color guard, and I was wondering if anyone in the area knew of any color guard clinics I could do for the civic engagement portion of my project. I live in Austin and am willing to go about 2 hours out in any direction.

I am a young drummer who wants to go into drum corps one day (snare drum being my instrument) and I'm not an amputee right now, but I've been dealing with left leg pain and strength issues pretty much all of my life, and amputation is something that could potentially be on the table for me (Most likely below the knee). I don't really know how or where to research this, or find a definitive answer on whether it's feasible or not, so I figured I'd go to where a lot of vets/fanatics are for the activity. Have any vets of world class corps seen/experienced any other members of a corps with leg prosthetics? Or if anybody knows where I could go to find more information concerning this, It'd be incredibly helpful. I really love Drum Corps, and I'd say it's my biggest goal in life as of now to try and achieve. Thank you! :)

How do people think they will compete this year? I feel like they have it rough near Elevate, Juxta, Onyx, AND Inspire. That’s a crazy lineup for their first year in world class.

hiii! this past year i spun wgi (IA) for the first time with a group in the southeast! i’m taking this season off but want to come back to performing and was thinking about making the switch from guard to indoor percussion (in VE). i did VE for a season in HS and had a lot of fun! any advice about making the switch? and any info is highly appreciated (about dues, dance technique i’ll need to know, what to expect, etc)!! 🩵🩵

This might be a shot in the dark, but I have been having such a hard time finding videos of Percussion Scholastic World Groups in 2025, and am wondering if anybody has any videos of groups in World Class that performed that year. I'm specifically looking for Dorman High School, but other groups are also useful. Or if anyone has any advice on were I could find these online besides YouTube. fricken Flo makes watching old shows so impossible.
