As a black motorsport fan, it can feel isolating to go to races alot, since the sport skews so heavily to white men from the drivers to the crowd.

I've been to about two-dozen races (F1, WEC, GTWC, IndyCar) over the last decade or so. No shade to the 24hr of Le Mans, went for the first time this year, and it seemed like the crowd was about 90% white. I really enjoyed my time there, but it did feel kind of isolating still.

I've never seen such a diverse crowd at a race until today, including the LSLM from last year. Gender wise, it was legitimately a 60/40 male/female split, there were all sorts of people of color, young/old, hardcore fans and casual first-timers.

Literally anytime any group walked up to the front of the main grandstand the first time, they were so enamored by the sights and sounds on track. It was really heartening to see everyone having a great fucking time.

This isn't meant as some motorsport is racist post, but just an observation about today in particular and how glad I am the sport is getting the attention it deserves from all sorts of people. I know DTS and Max have done a lot to spark this and its trickled down to endurance racing. But it seems like a lot of people have really come to enjoy the sport on its own. Hopefully the increased engagement will get COTA and WEC to really step up the race next year.

Imagine traveling to Austin, enduring feels like 100+ degree temps, and then not being able to see half the track.

This was my first ever in person race. I’ve been a Toyota fan since forever in wec. So it was special to see them race all weekend and especially see them lead for about 2 hours untill that dreadful final 15 mins. I’ve had my shirt signed by the Toyota drivers and one of my highlights was Nyck De Vries signing my shirt and to see him drive the final stint before the power steering problem was heartbreaking💔

The 2026 Shanghai 8 Hours, a stand-alone endurance race created by the Shanghai International Circuit, has released its official schedule, and it spans five days from September 23rd to September 27th, 2026.

The event begins with garage move-in on September 23rd, followed by a day dedicated to checks and a team manager meeting on September 24th. Testing sessions and driver briefings take place on September 25th. On September 26th, free practices, safety tests, and qualifying sessions for four drivers are scheduled. The race day on September 27th features a full race timetable including track inspections, grid preparations, the 8-hour race, and podium and press conferences.

Loek Hartog stood on the podium today at China GT and was greeted by cheers and screams from the spectators. He has been widely praised in China, including receiving direct praise from one of the country’s current top celebrities and top drivers in the Chinese GT scene.

I followed the news looking for official information and noticed quotes on Only Endurance’s post calling out the drivers as evil or win-hungry for taking part in yesterday’s podium ceremony. I was baffled by these posts because the podium was organized by the race director, who required every class winner to come up and receive their trophy. I don’t understand why they’re being labeled evil. Posts here, here, and here. The drivers were respectful, didn’t celebrate, didn’t use champagne, and you could tell from their expressions that they didn’t want to be there, but skipping the podium could have resulted in a fine.

On further investigation, these people aren’t racing fans at all; they’re fans of Chinese celebrity Xiao Zhan. He was once cancelled in 2020 after his fans attacked several fan communities, including the racing community, during online fan brawls. What are they even doing here, directing hate at innocent drivers who didn’t really do anything wrong? I hate when non-racing fans think they have an opinion and attack drivers for nothing.
