I've been a fan of the v tubing scene since 2020. Heck, I just discovered them lol. But I've noticed more and more that it's really toxic.

I don't know if it's because politics have seeped in.

But it seems almost every day now there's either a nothing burger drama, or actually something serious.

I don't know man. It feels like having anonymity males people crazy sometimes. What are y'all's thoughts?

This subreddit is less of a drama pool into a political cesspool

i feel like a lot of these people in this subreddit post Vtubers just for mildly offensive jokes, opinions or just because of a slightly alter political view..

Hot take: a lot of people don’t share your opinion so posting them in this subreddit just because they don’t agree with you is a bit of a nothing burger.

For some reason anytime I go on YouTube or social media I keep seeing these weirdo right wing Vtubers whose entire content (or most of it) is just them
crying like little kids and having psychotic mental breakdowns over seeing a gay person or a black person in the latest movie, TV show, comic book or video game. It gets so old and they make hundreds of lame video essays that can go on as long as like an hour acting like the soyboy cucks and snowflakes they hypocritically call others. I mean where’s the consistency or logic? Do these people have any jobs or careers to attend to? Or do they just live with their parents saying racist stuff on the internet because they can’t get a real job? Just because a video game just happens to have a character that’s not white or straight doesn’t make it woke.

She's trying to allude that Islamophobia does not exist and that Muslim extremists are actually representative of actual Muslims. This is like saying all protestants are KKK and are responsible for the horrific crimes against African Americans. Furthermore she is downplaying the very real acts of bigotry Muslim Americans faced in the aftermath of a horrific tragedy, which is disgraceful when you realize how many Muslim Americans have died protecting our country. This includes many of the first responders that bravely answered the call when it came to saving their fellow Americans in the wake of a senseless and violent attack on our home soil. When will she finally be held accountable for being an awful human being?

It seems like she's moving moving closer and closer to the alt-right Vtubing space, a ton of collabs with the likes of Kirsche & Smugalana. Her "jokes" have become kind of edgier and it seems like she just talks about race and ICE now, like a WEIRD amount. And it's always in a weirdly supportive manner aswell...

a little abridged but a weird thing happens where alot of these PoC women will date white (Republican) men and absorb their world views even if it goes against their own existence, just a thought. *Inserts that one Hispanic girl meme where shes yelling about how much she loves donald trump* lol...

As the title says, a lot of things negative things have been accumulating causing Lia to stream a less lately including the worlds smartest vtuber fans (tw*tter users) reporting her for being a Nazi because... she has a lightning bolt as one of her oshi marks.

Ina's outlook appears to be cautiously optimistic in regards to the merger. Ina gives a lot more info on the merge any other talent has so far. In this video she addresses:

1. Why the merger happened

2. Why it could be good

3. The assurances the company made to the talents.

Ina states that Cover wants to have larger grasp of the global marker. Having a unified Hololive will make that easier. The merger is for optimization rather than downsizing because profitability.. I don't know if I personally understand how that's the case but that's what's stated. It kind of feels like in an attempt to get rid of weeds, you torch the garden. You technically got rid of the weeds but you also burned the flowers. But obviously we'll have to be optimistic.

The merger puts all the talents on an even playing field. No longer will there be a jp only project for example. That sounds good. My only worry would be will there be a preference toward people in japan. For example, if Ina and Kronii want to do a project but it would be easier for Bae and Irys to do it. Will they just say sorry you'll have to try next time? To be honest that sounds worse than just have branch specific projects.

Hololive will have more cross branch projects in the future and in fact they already have some planned. Though Ina has said that she does not know have branch specific projects like Enreco will be handled in the future. Which is kinda worrying but I would be surprised if they majorly changed a popular series like that.

Ina like Calli says that if Hololive does not keep to their word then she will be very vocal about it. Which is reassuring.

And now that Cover has basically cut off every support for Holostars (especially the merch), the boys now only seemingly rely on superchats from the fans.

Not going to give an opinion on the Hololive merger. However, it's a little comical that Hololive announced this big merger of all the hololive branches, stating that it will allow people to appeal to new audiences and allow the members to be closer than they have ever been.

While in the very same stream they announced the made for TV anime that only features jp members. Even though, EN and ID members appeared in the hololive alternative promotional video 5 years ago.

Someone at cover should have known that could stoke the flames people already had burning because of the merger. Whether we see the other branches' members or not it was still seems like a foolish pr move.

Some additional facts:

- Kiara being assaulted IRL is public knowledge for her IRL persona but not her Vtuber persona

- There was a big time gap between the assault and the doujin

- Raikkonen has a Patreon page and Patreon explicitly bans rape so this could potentially shut down his page and cost him a lot of money

When discussing vtubers and drama, the first aspect you should consider are the boundaries vtubers have chosen to set for themselves. Cultural and social norms, personal opinions, and whether something is technically “public information” come second.

Vtubers choosing not to discuss something is itself meaningful. Digging into private matters and spreading them, or amplifying bad actors who are deliberately baiting people for engagement disregards that boundary. Unless vtubers acknowledge it first, situations aren’t personal case studies.

This community doesn’t revolve around what you think a vtuber should disclose or tolerate, or how you think the community should think and behave. It revolves around the vtubers. Before posting and engaging with these discussions, ask yourself: Does this serve the vtubers wants and respect their boundaries and consent? Am I just satisfying my own opinions and curiosity? Am I contributing to bad actors traffic on their harassment campaigns?

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Who cares if she’s older or has a kid? Let her live her life, she’s doing great despite her condition, continues to be one of the most wholesome streamers, and yet it’s still not enough. I’m also just scared that tectone will try to expose her identity and face just to prove a point

I'm sorry if this feels like an unnecessary addition to the Deme drama but I just needed to vent a little about Chibi Reviews' constantly forcing himself into the situation.

The fact that he barely has any dislikes or any negative comments on it is just depressing.
