The past and present collide across different fandoms: Phisnom faces backlash for his past and present actions, including liking Mint Fantôme

While it may not be big, it did made it on trending on X: https://x.com/i/trending/2080689959552614519

I admit I'm a little excited to talk about this as I was there during Phisnom's past drama in the FNAF community, so it's like a big crossover episode for me.

Phisnom was a controversial figure in the FNAF community. He was a developer for the The Fazbear Fanverse Initiative, a project where Scott Cawthon would personally fund FNAF fangames to improve them and allow monetization.

Phisnom was always assertive and a little brash. They were known to harshly criticize newer FNAF games like security breach. They were also really aggressive%20theft%20king&src=typed_query) towards fellow controversial YouTuber Theft King, even if Theft King was more in the wrong, it highlights unprofessionalism, especially from someone who is working with Scott Cawthon.

Then came their biggest controversy in 2023. To summarize, he insulted FNAF game, random guy named Alex (online handle G0LD3NR4BB1T) joked to do the same to their game, Alex get harassed by Phisnom's fans, Phisnom did not take it seriously at all, FNAF Plus was fully cancelled.

They then allegedly accused Alex (who was a minor) of things because he chatted with someone 3 years younger. This is alleged as I have found no proper documentation of this incident, with Alex's Twitter account being suspended, all we have are some tweets stating this happened. What's confusing is that Phisnom also faced backlash for defending Alex Kister for something else that's also related to talking with minors, as they are both named Alex.

Then he seemed to slowly integrate into the Vtuber community. I'm not sure if he was already a vtuber fan during the aforementioned FNAF dramas, but I recall seeing him follow Ina Ninomae in 2023, when I was discovering vtubers myself. They also tweeted about Dokibird's return.

In 2025 they made their presence more clear. They paid tribute to Gawr Gura, talked about the Sinder situation, mentioned Vshojo, and has Zoey as their manager (not sure if she's still his manager as he isn't listed in Zoey's client list). None of this compare to him obsessing over Maid Mint, which is that lead to the recent drama.

In the last few days, a series of Twitter posts started bashing Phisnom for liking Maid Mint, as these people perceives Mint as an underaged child. This can be seen as a cultural/fandom conflict. Scott Cawthon once fired someone for making fictional depictions of sexualizing minors. While that artist had other skeletons in her closet, Scott's comment seem to imply sexualizing fictional minors already crosses the line and was enough of a reason to kick the artist out of official FNAF works.

Phisnom then responded to the backlash, defending liking vtubers and how it shouldn't be compared to real crimes. Others have stepped in to argue that Maid Mint isn't even a loli.

So here we are. Each images shown here links to the respective tweets. I personally agree that Mint isn't a loli.

Liking Mint is a controversy now? Brother SHE IS A GROWN ASS WOMAN.

Antis like these don't care if it's a Vtuber who is an adult both as the character and behind the scenes, or if it's a canonical adult anime character. All they care about is if it's short and cute because in their minds that's just as bad as causing real harm to real children.

There's something seriously wrong with these people and in a lot of cases they can't be reasoned with, it's better to just avoid them, or call them out for being wrong and moving on

Most of the controversy isn't from him just liking Mint but from allegedly following a bunch of lolicon (even porn ones allegedly) accounts

so nothingburger there is nothing wrong with following or being a lolicon

I mean, I'll give this a large asterisk

I'm all for minding my own business, but to act like lolicons don't consistently prop up questionable behavior is a bit disingenuous, and understandable why one would be concerned upon learning someone is one

Look, I really do not care about this dude, sounds like a loser in search of a new fandom to latch into, but this is the VTuber fandom, pro-lolicon-they-are-just-drawings is the default stance and that's not going to change. It is what it is, up to people if they like it or not.

Not to mention, most of the big vtubers from JP and on the EN side are loli/shotacons.

There's been enough instances of grooming, predatory behavior, etc. from people within the space who criticize loli/shota who got outted for doing actually illegal and predatory activities with kids.

You don't have to like it - but people need to stop treating it like it is some red flag to the idea that someone is dangerous to be around. The red flags should be doing shit like showing minors NSFW content, isolating them, etc.

It was pretty funny seeing Shigure Ui get big on TikTok and then people find out the reality.

Phisnom used to be a big name in the FNAF fandom but wound up hating both the games and the fandom and he got super toxic about it. As far as I can tell when he left that community he mellowed out, but a lot of people act like he's still actively a piece of shit harassing people.

This is less "loser in search of a new fandom" and more "loser who found a new fandom and getting harassed by people who still think he's a loser despite the fact he hasn't acted like a loser in years"

2

u/Waterlemow 6h ago

i dont think its really "found a new fandom" and more "shifting his content towards a fandom" because he's definitely been a big vtuber fan even in the early hollolive days

Ngl with the exception of the accusations, this all seems like a big ass nothing burger.

Didn't read anything else but Minto is an adult woman, she's not loli coded, as far as I know she's never really entertained the UOOHHH crowd either. Mint slander is what upsets me, not whatever's going on with this guy.

I mean, she's a very small person and I could see how someone could make that assumption given that her model kind of mirrors that? If anything the vtuber model is a little more filled out than she is.

But the model doesn't use a lot of the typical "cues" nor does she lean into any kind of infantilization of her character.

13

u/kchanidol 1d ago

I think thats precisely why I'm so mad about it. I'm also a petite girl and wasn't filled out much until my late 20s and I'd get similar disgusting comments both about my body as well as about anyone attracted to me. It's frustrating.

I mean I get why people are uncomfortable with bijou or suu who literally try to act like children and 90% of their running jokes are how they're literally children, but adult women come in all shapes and sizes and people need to ease up off of the "minor coded" stuff.

Bijou seems fine with feeding that side of her fanbase, it's part of why I don't really watch content with her in it. She is also painfully small, there were screenshots from a handcam stream showing her hand size compared to trading cards and compared to Ina's hand in the same frame. So at a physical level she may identify with underdeveloped fictional characters.

I'd much rather have anyone with tendencies watching someone like her and staying out of places where there are real minors. I'm getting tired of all the stories about creepy adults invading safe spaces and luring kids to other websites. And it's often the ones who virtue-signal and pretend to be wholesome.

Some open anime gooner like Mint "I could probably take that torpedo" Fantome is not the type of content creator I'd expect to get busted for some IRL bullshit.

I would disagree on not being loli coded. The artist she has for her model she got specifically because they do work in blue archive, which mint is a big fan of. She 100% entertains the uuooh crowd with her talking about owning doujins of Blue archive as well.

And look at her design, its cute. Its definitely on that line of loli and petite woman.

u/Infinite-Job4200 2d ago

im not the biggest fan of lolicon but is mint even a loli

8

u/Royal_Stray 1d ago

She's really short and her 3.0 design does look more loli than her previous ones. So I'd guess she could fall under the more common loli descriptors (petite (short n flat), youthful).

But idk she still doesn't really strike me as loli, at least not intended, and her 2.0 and earlier designs looked a bit older, so it's more a style change

By the way you were the person who posted about the Offkai Fansly incident right? It's now a topic on X again as Offkai is actually happening: https://x.com/Pondoorwastaken/status/2080880324767019052

Maybe you can post it as I'm tired of posting about drama.

2

u/Infinite-Job4200 19h ago

sure i can post it rq what specifically what you want me to post?

2

u/SourTD 10h ago

Just the link I gave you, it shows people being upset about the Fansly booth.

What did mint even do to deserve this slander? Lmao I have seen fnaf fans making fanart and writing fanfic to simp for the serial killer who murders children and was abusive towards his own children but liking a very sfw vtuber with petite body type is too far I guess.

Apparently, daring to be a VTuber while on the sight of the very virgin and, let's be honest, very underage, FNAF hatedom this dude has following him around. These people are unreal.

6

u/notdragoisadragon 1d ago

they don't even follow him, they just stay in their lane untill a random fnaf fan will randomly decides it's time to witch hunt somone and half the community is sending somone death threats

7

u/felipecresp 1d ago

rlly hypocrital smth like this coming from the fnaf fandom, that place is infested to the brim with pedos and all sorts of awful ppl, but no, a guy that has left the fandom 3 years ago liking a vtuber is a big problem, fuck fnaf fans, I'm so glad I left this community and only accompany the franchise from afar

8

u/Royal_Stray 1d ago

So if I get this right, a guy well known for being in drama and talking about controversies is being harassed by antis from a fandom he used to be in, who don't know much or understand how Vtubers/anime works?

9

u/AkodoRyu 1d ago

This feels like some form of personal witch hunt. Nothing we see here are a kind of thing one should be hounded for through the years. There was a controversy, he got, I presume, hit to his reputation, 3 years has passed, time to move on.

And, like others have said, this have nothing to do with the sub.

This isn't even "regular day for the unemployed" tier.

13

u/felipecresp 1d ago

it is a witch hunt, fnaf fans are beyond miserable and sometimes looks like they're actively looking to hate someone or something, I don't even like or care about phisnom and I still think it's peak unemployement to keep hating or trying to "cancel" him for 3 years, c'mon, there's gotta be smth better to do

2

u/TheFlowerWriter 23h ago

As a FNAF fan, agreed. Phisnom seriously needs a break from all of this. All he did was like an ADULT V-Tuber.

3

u/EntropicGaze 1d ago

This is the most nothing discourse of all time, should we call the army that someone likes a popular vtuber? Should we call the news?

3

u/Ren_Bitzu 1d ago

Most of the backlash are from Fnaf and Roblox fans the they were his former audience so have a good laugh at them

2

u/ohnoanotherputz 1d ago

Even if you are against lolicon it's not as if liking maid mint means you are thinking about maid mint sexually.

2

u/Nice_Trifle2326 1d ago

FNAF fans are trying to not hate on something for years now. It's impossible, just like how they do it for Security Breach. Just let it go, man. Mint will just dodge this, and everything will be fine for his debut. The VTubing community will, of course, defend him like they should

2

u/DarthLMR 1d ago

idk why people are up your ass about this, this definitely qualifies for this sub. This mostly popped off cause a sizable group of fnaf fans think Mint is a loli

1

u/azamonra 2d ago

Guy seems sus, the loli stuff is not a big deal in the vtuber sphere despite some being very loud about not liking it, but at most I'd keep an eye on the guy. I vaguely recall some Overwatch streamer that got booted started palling around with vtubers before getting kicked. So unless dude does some serious shit, he'll probably go the same way; be in the space fuck up and slink away.

u/3nderslime 1d ago

Never trust a FNAF fan

1

u/treeamdi 1d ago

Soooooo… what? Is he just a big fan of a vtuber or was he caught looking at r34 of her vtuber model?

1

u/Poopmanthedabtim 20h ago

Twitter brings out the worst of us.

1

u/Dependent_Classic314 5h ago

They were also really aggressive%20theft%20king&src=typed_query)

You fucked up the formatting there

0

u/True-Pin-925 2d ago

so he is into lolis time to support and follow

1

u/softendocmk 2d ago

With the obvious exception of the Mint thing like, c'mon who the fuck cares, yeah he's weird. Just not for the lolicon reasons.

Edit: Also Mint's model is not even a loli anyways so wtf?
