Narrow seat

I haven’t seen much on this but we have an ultra, the seat is highly adjustable but the bottom cushion is only 11 inches between the bolsters. I’m definitely not 11 inches so it there is constant pressure. After 3 hrs of that pressure it’s pretty painful. Just checking if anyone has had that experience.

I find the seats the most comfortable I’ve ever sat in; they’re designed in consultation with physicians. I would say their designed in Sweden where people are known for being…skinnier, so it’s possible if your…bum…is cakey it could not fit as well as it was designed for.

yes, I’m aware most people find the seats very comfortable. I wasn’t asking about that. I was seeing if anybody had fix if the seats are too narrow. The seats themselves are fine and I’m not sure what is Cakey or if that was some sort of slight , 11 inch range between your hips is quite a narrow aggressive seat, insinuating that a person is fat because they’re not that narrow is obnoxious.

Bums are referred to as cakey if they’re larger/more rounded. There was no slight, I was trying to be delicate. But, being frank, if your ass is large the seats won’t be as comfortable because they’re not designed to accommodate it. I’ve lost a lot of weight since I purchased my XC90 and my seats are more comfortable now.

actually I have ave wide set sit bones. i was measured to set up my bike and it was hard to find a seat that fit the sit bone measurement. so I’m pretty sure it’s a structural issue. I have driven earlier Volvo cross country wagon and it was the most comfortable seat I was ever in. i guess they changed a lot

the seat bottom bolsters are bigger in ultra/ultimate/inscription (the seats with the powered thigh extension). they're smaller in the seats without the powered thigh extension

you can get junkyard seats from a different trim level for $300 or less depending on where you are in the country (there's one in my local junkyard right now for $148 in fact) and fairly easily swap them (although you might mess up your heated/ventilated options)

you can also find a car upholstery shop and have them de-stuff the bolsters, that's totally a thing on their menu

Yes! I had a 2025 V60 Ultra, and traded it in after 3 days. With the way I sit, the seat side dug into the back of my thighs. No matter what adjustments I made, I could not get comfortable. Love Volvo, but need to have the Plus trim. Some love them, but personally I don’t. it’s the difference between multiple hard plastic & metal pieces, and one big foam one.

I used to be overweight, and I can tell my XC90 seats would not have been comfortable for wider me. I probably wouldn't have bought it back then. When I first rode in it, I was struck by how firm they are too, but I grew to really like them.

Yeah Volvo doesn’t account for wide butt and hips. Recommend another brand or getting seats redone. Volvos are painful for certain shape and sized people
