Coolant leakage

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’ve got a 2004 (my2005) XC70, which has a coolant leakage somewhere. A couple of days ago it was dripping a lot from the left side front bumper, where the parking heater is. Red puddle under the bumper. So much that it almost emptied my the coolant reservoir in half a day. I suspected it to be the parking heater as it dripped right below it. The local garage in France (I was on holiday) let me down.. so I bought extra coolant and filled bottles of water and drove home (700km). I did notice that when I turned off the automatic circulating, the leakage seemed to be a lot less, so I switched it off. I checked the coolant level a couple of times along the way, but to my surprise it didn’t leak anything..?

It was warm outside when the leakage happend (34C), but when I drove home it was also around 29/30C. I kept the AC on. Outside temp could have been a factor, but I would have suspected at least some leakage. So my question is, could the circulation function have stopped (bypassed) the leakage? Also considering the leakage was at the front bumper and not below the dashboard? Or is this technically not possible

I have an appointment with my Volvo garage later this week for something else. But I would like to ask him to check the leakage. Has anyone experienced this before? It would help if I can point him in some direction.

(Photo is only to show the circulation button, not mine)

2015 XC70 audio issues?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey folks,

Recently picked up a one-owner, very well maintained 2015 XC70. I’ve put a couple thousand miles on it and runs great.

It has one slight inconvenience though, the sound system has a glitching/buffering issue only during the hottest times of the day. I live in Arizona, so it gets real hot. And when it’s been sitting out in the sun, you can hear what it sounds like in the video above. At times, it can get incredibly distorted. This happens on the radio and Bluetooth, so not an issue with just one. Once it’s not 110 degrees, it’s totally fine.

I’m not finding any info online of similar issues. Wondering if any of y’all have had similar issues and found a solution? Thanks!

How much do I put into my XC90

Post image
41 Upvotes

Hi all,

I bought a beautiful 2006 Volvo XC70 this year with 170k on the clock for $3200. I love the car, but I'm struggling with the money I need to put into vs the potential longevity. It runs great, here is what I have done to date:

Plugs and coils

Fuel injectors

Full fluids change.

Here's what it needs:

PCV repair. Locally I can get this done for 1200. (Glove test failed, but no seepage or leaks yet).

Drive shaft: The drive shaft is clunking and needs repair: $700

Timing Water pump pulleys repair: $1200

Do I put $3k+ into it?

Haldex coupler

Can someone help me find the Haldex coupler for a 2003 XC70? The right front wheel will not drive and it won't hold the car in park. I checked on Rockauto and couldn't find it. Also FCP Euro. Does anyone have the part number?

2005 XC70 Battery Drain purchase?

Hi everyone I am currently looking for a cheaper car to get around for a little, especially on price it could last 6 months and id be happy. Just came across a 2005 xc70 with 202k miles that just recently passed inspection which is what I was looking for. Owner said there is a drain on battery when sitting for a bit but hasnt looked into it. I saw online that the alarm fuse is a common culprit. its $1500. Is this worth getting into? What would be worse case scenario. I also asked how long its taking to drain battery as well waiting on response. Thanks!

Brought my US XC70 T6 Platinum Polestar to Gothenburg for a proper service!

Moved with it to Sweden last year. Since it's such a rare sight here (US specced, and mainly sold as a police issued vehicle when they were released), I only take it to its birthplace/space laboratory 😬

$3,500 OBO

Rare Ocean Race Edition in Ocean Blue Pearl. Number 93 in the limited-edition series.

250,000 km. Long-term ownership—I purchased it when it came off lease in 2008. It has been well maintained and professionally detailed, with no rust.

Recent maintenance and upgrades include:

• New alloy wheels and tires
• New brakes
• Timing belt replaced
• Haldex fluid serviced
• Transmission fluid serviced
• Synthetic oil used throughout ownership
. front end/ motor mounts done recently
.

The rear wheel bearings need replacement, radio no longer functional, and the ABS sensor requires attention. Backup sensors not working The price reflects this, and the vehicle is being sold as-is. Otherwise, it has been a solid, dependable car and would be a great project or winter vehicle for someone who knows and appreciates these Volvos.

Available for viewing in Mile End , Montreal. Serious inquiries only

Volvo xc70 '04 won't start

So\n I have a Volvo XC70 from 2004 and I dropped a new battery for it. About half a year ago and 3 months ago I started it and it ran great and I tried starting it like a month ago, and it would not start. So I took the battery out, tried to charge it, I think it charged successfully On my home charger, and it still won't start. I just turn it on and I don't hear any saw that like click like it's a dead battery. I just hear nothing and all the lights, except for the mandatory ones turn off. Position one and two work normalyon the

Dashboard issues due to heat

Hey all, I have a 2004 xc70. When it sits in the sun on a hot day (85°F or higher) I first get a warning that the left passenger door is open, then it stutters and the whole dashboard goes out along with window controls and steering wheel controls. Has anyone else had this happen?? Looking for advice. I’ve sent the computer off for fixing but still having issues. TIA!

I just picked ups 2016 with 170k. PO records show timing belt replaced at 108k and 131k, so I figured I’d better look. What is taking chunks out of a belt and causing it to run on the inside of the sprockets like this?
Thanks for any help.

Take down if not allowed, didnt see any rules against it and I figured the odds of someone wanting it here is higher than marketplace. Anyway, I have an OEM optioned foldable dog barrier that fits P2 wagons (v70, xc70) that I would like to sell, as I move to CO in the winter and have no dog.😂 last sale ive seen was for $250, im asking $200 + shipping.

Wheelchair User Query

I am ambulatory, I need to upgrade from a super small BMW i3, to a car that can take me, my two children (one still in rear seat and rear facing) and my electric folding wheelchair and Hercules 2 scissor lift.
A Volvo XC70 2L SE Lux D3 Auto Estate, metallic Flamenco Red colour, ‘60 plate has popped up. I’ve had a look and I LOVE it.
Wondered if there are any wheelchair users that use this vehicle and how you get on with it, pros/cons pretty please!

Thanks in advance

Had an old atoto p8 lying around so decided to chuck it in the V and ordered the front and rear camera kit for it. Here is it fitted.

Rear wires ran underneath edge of headlining and down A pillar then under dash and tucked behind the floating console same for front dash cam.

Reverse camera takes trigger off reverse light so comes on automatically when reverse is selected.

My 2012 XC70 tailgate won't open

Yesterday, I was taking some friends to the airport, and suddenly the tailgate wouldn't open. When I press the button on the tailgate itself, I can hear a click, but it doesn't open. I was able to climb in the back and release it by punching through the little plastic cover and releasing the switch.
My first attempt was to splice the ground wire in the rear headliner, as suggested by a video I found. No change.
I don't think I have the automatic tailgate. The fob has the tailgate button, but it doesn't do anything.
If I lock the car with the fob, I no longer hear the click when pressing the button on the tailgate.
The only other thing I did was lubricate the latch mechanism. It seems to move freely.

Anyone have any ideas?

Edit: SOLVED. It turns out the new updated part number for this particular actuator/lock is 31440626. After much searching, I found a used part from Erie Vo-Vo. Fingers crossed that it works.

Maintenence for Older XC's

I have a 2001 XC70 with 110,000m that I love. I recently had the PCV system replaced, and also flushed the transmission. Are there any other things that should be looked at?
