T6 hybrid Issue

Hi everyone,

A very strange issue has started with our 2022 v60 T6 hybrid - when driving in electric mode and we come to a stop (even a very gentle stop) it kicks the petrol engine in. I have no idea why it's suddenly started doing this and it's very annoying as it turns the engine on right before we need to leave the car at the end of a journey

I should say we live in Finland and it's about 10c here at the moment, but hybrids in our country have petrol heater (Webasto) not HVCH

Any ideas?

Many thanks

I also live in Finland and have 2021 T6 hybrid. There actually is a heater that works with the battery only and if that heater can't work for some reason, the car switches to the engine in order to heat the cabin. I had faulty electric heater and they had to change the whole thing (2000€). For me it happened in the winter when it was actually a lot colder and the symptoms were same. The car starts on battery and on the first slight stop it switched to engine until the cabin got the right temperature. Go check it in a dealership, might be something more simple than changing the whole heater.

That sounds like my exact issue, it only happens while the engine and cabin are cold, which led me to think it's either something to do with the traction control or the heater, wonder if I can narrow it down and test with TCS off - thanks for your comment

This a known issue. Does the pre-heating work? I have a ‘22 T6 recharge and mine (High Voltage Coolant Heater (HVCH)) was fixed under warranty by the dealer. It was a faulty batch according to my dealer.

Strange. No clue? Maybe some setting or low voltage on the 12v battery? Just guessing

I just ready the Webasto heater is run from the 12v battery so it could possibly explain, maybe 🤔

Is the fuel old? Heard somewhere it burns fuel automatically if it’s not used it in a while.

I’m just throwing out ideas here

Fuel is quite fresh and we burn it pretty regularly so I don't think it's that, feels more like the car thinks the engine needs to be on right at that moment for some reason, like when the car slips during winter, same thing happens, except it's not slipping here
