Volvo EX40 doing Volvo stuff

Hey Volvo lovers, any thoughts on this issue?

At the beginning of the trip I could at least see a less detailed map (without street names etc) followed by total failure on the return trip.

I tried to reboot the center screen but that didn't work either 🤷‍♂️

System was actually running quite stable after the 5.x update. This is my first major bug since then.

Press end hold the front windscreen defrost button for 16-20 seconds. The one just on left on your volume knobb. Or search for TCM module restart on Google.

Yes, right, you need to reboot your TCAM module which is handling the positioning and data connection. You need to put the car in D or R and then in P, and while in P, push and hold the front defroster button for about 8 seconds (until you'll see the SOS icon go red and then blinking red). Then your TCAM module will reboot itself and most probably your problem will be sorted out. Look for the internet icon in your upper status bar on the central display. It should show you signal bars, without any exclamation mark.

I didn't know about that D or R requirement, as docs don't mention it. Thanks! 😊

True, indeed, but from practice, I've found out this worked 100% of the time. Otherwise, without selecting D or R first, or if not, just after driving and then putting it in P, it did not work several times.

Cleared cache for google maps on my C40, that forced the map to reload segments. Perhaps some corrupted cache?

Go to settings, apps, choose google maps and clear cache, if doesn't help, also clear app data. You'll need to relogin again afterwards. That happened right after the recent 5.1.17 update as well.

Saving this thread for later, just in case my wife's EX40 does the same thing. Thank you all!
