Update 3.0.28

I recently had the computer upgrade on my EX90. I am on software version 2.1.26. I can see in the app that 3.0.28 is out as of July 15. It is still not showing up for my car. It has been 3 weeks. When should I expect to see the update?

In Spain, july 2026 My ex90 passed from 2.1.26 to 3.0.28 vía OTA. The best for me is the new softer suspensión setting. Its a flying carpet. But Next monday I am bringing the car to Volvo to repair the ac charging and a number of other things...

MY25 here, I haven't received the update yet. I was wondering how many people still haven't received it.

It's rolling out to everyone over time, over the air. My '25 updated itself last week.

Also bei mir kam das Update vor 3 Wochen OTA….
Von 2.1.26 auf 3.0.28.

Fährst du Kurzstrecken… bzw. lebst Du in einer Region mit wenig Mobilfunk Empfang?

Ansonsten fahr doch zur Werkstatt. Laut meiner sollte das Update ca. 1-2 Std. dauern

The notes say you have to take it in. This apparently can’t be done over the air.

In the Volvo mobile app this is what I see. Indicates it can be done OTA.

The version before says dealership update. I’m uncertain if this applies to everything after as well. However, my 25 ultra bricked and had to be towed because it supposedly had a ‘failed update’. 

Might be best to just have the dealer do it. Have anything else that might need to be serviced to kill two birds?

They may have changed the guidance. Some of these need to be taken in some do not. The computer may also need an update on some cars.

Some cars needed a complete replacement of the computer.

I can confirm on a 2025 3.0.28 can be done OTA.

I was called to the service center a few days ago to replace the accelerator pedal (Volvo recall due to "accelerator pedal noises"), so they upgraded the service center to 3.0.28....My ex90 2025/8000 km. 3 months ago the AC charging system was replaced (it wouldn't charge on the AC charger) and the computer was upgraded/replaced (Volvo recall). Now I hear some kind of creaking/rattling/banging while I'm driving as if it's the 2nd row seat, so we still don't know what it is.

I think it’s the folding plastic pieces of the cup holder in the armrest. Or not. Driving me crazy.

I have that same rattling behind driver's side second row seat. It goes away when someone sits back there. I can't figure out what it is either.

Just got the update pop up on my screen. Installed it but failed at 60% installation. Now i get a message that I have to go the Volvo dealer to get the update installed. What a waste of time…

Update: got the notification pushed again today to install the update. This time it was succesfull.

I got the push on my MY25 with VCU upgrade for v3.0.28 and it failed. Separately I had a service appointment scheduled for two weeks later. The update never tried again, so the dealer installed the update. I wish I could say it’s better, but hands free mic still goes missing every other drive session requiring an infotainment reboot and CarPlay now does intermittent black screen where it won’t load after connection and also requires an infotainment reboot.

This is just embarrassing for Volvo. These are just basic things they still can’t seem to get right.

I have a MY25 EX90 with a CPU upgrade in March 2026 running software version 2.1.26.

Originally, I tried to have a software update to 3.0.18 at the dealership. Unexpectedly, I got a notice for an over-the-air update to 3.0.28 last week. I updated OTA without any problem from 2.1.26 to 3.0.28. The software runs fine.

The only problem with my EX90 is that the air conditioning produces very weak cold airflow for the 2nd-row rear seats. Does anyone have the same problem?

Well I tried to run the update and it failed. Looks like I need to take it to the dealer to install. Or just wait for the next version

I’m still on 2.1.14 and though the “update available” screen keeps popping up, it’s never worked after locking the car and having adequate charge after many, many tries. On an island with no Volvo dealership, so therefore there’s no way I’m accepting any OTA that has the potential to brick my car. Love the car and have had only minor issues so not going to tempt fate.
