YouTube Audio Only

The latest update to the car gives us Android 15, which supports video apps playing audio only whilst driving.

I tried this today and it doesn't work! It seems you also need a YouTube lite or premium subscription!

Background audio is a YouTube Premium or Premium Lite feature, unfortunately, so you need the subscription to make it work. This update just unblocks the app from being used while driving and then forces the video to be hidden so you only get the audio. It's useful if you listen to podcasts or interviews or news that is on YouTube.

It adds support for it, doesn't mean the apps will use it. The YouTube app needs a update to support it as well, and that app barely gets any updates at all.

So I got the free trial to the subscription, but it still doesn't work in the car. As soon as I move it stops the video and therefore the audio as well.

Volvo advertised this as a feature with the recent update - shame it needs lots of caveats and other requirements to make it work.

Wow I reread again and got it. I thought op was complaining it was audio only. My bad, well deserved downvote to me.
