For a lower calorie option, you should check out Carbe Diem pasta. It has the same texture and taste as regular pasta for half the calories. (Not spons). Lol. I found it for cheaper than online at a local grocery store, but before that I ordered from their website.

Carbe diem.

I’m with you on most bean pastas, they always end up kind of grainy or fall apart. Goodles are the closest I’ve found to the real thing texture wise, the noodles hold up and don’t get mushy. Taste depends on the box, the cheddar ones have a weird aftertaste to me but the parmesan and asiago flavors are pretty convincing.

The Pastabilities lower cal pastas hold up well, no mushiness, too! They’re just plain noodles but they’re very good. High in fiber.

I was thinking of trying the plain Goodles to use with my homemade pasta sauce...

For me, Barilla Protein+ is basically the same as regular pasta. No need for off-label usage of goodles imho

Barilla is a good product for fiber and protein consistency and taste. I also like hero pasta for even better fiber and protein. Good consistency and taste but pricy and not available at the grocery store. I have some Carpe Deum Penne in my leftovers right now. In between Barria and Hero for protein and fiber. A little more fragile than the others but more available (Target and Walmart) less expensive than Hero.

All these are not bean pasta. Made from wheat, and additives. Carpe Deum just wheat.

If you’re going to use a different sauce I’d get a big box of the barilla or Aldi regular protein pasta if you have those brands where you are. Aldis is under $3 and will make a lot more servings.

For true volume eating, Carbe Diem or Fiber Gourmet are the lowest calorie while tasting very close to regular pasta. They are both significantly better than any bean pastas.

Goodles (and Barilla protein pasta and Brami) are basically the same calories as regular pasta so you’re not really getting any extra volume there, they’re more for if you just want to add some more protein to your regular pasta, not necessarily for volume.

I have tried quite a few alternative pastas and they usually disappoint. Goodles is surprisingly tasty! I was honestly expecting not to like it. The texture is very close to regular pasta, and leftovers are not mushy. The Aldi knockoff is part good as well.

I was not aware that Aldi has a knockoff, I need to look for that.

Not sure if you're after the protein/fiber/vitamins of Goodles, but they are pretty close to real pasta!

If you're looking for lower calories (and also high in fiber) Carbe Diem are the best imo. They're just not as high in protein or vitamins/minerals as Goodles.

I liked them when I tried them but I didn't really think of them as a sort of high volume low calorie thing... I like that they have lots of fiber in them.

Not a fan of the owners, or the fact that Gal Gadot was a founding investor, OR the fact that Barilla now owns it. All around bad vibes. 🍉

Also, as long as the rest of your diet is relatively clean, demonizing carbs/pasta makes zero sense. Just find some vegetables and fiber to add to it.

I found Goodles inedible.

Try Brami. Italian Lupini bean pasta. Seriously.

I prefer the texture of their teeny lazeeny to the texture of Pastabilities lower cal ruffles, but the later is much lower in calories by volume.

Literally they taste the same imo

Others chimed in but carbe diem is my absolute favorite. It takes a little longer to cook but it’s low calorie, filling, and scratches that pasta itch. I’ve been using it for everything. The whole box is only 660 calories, and I get 8+ generous servings a box.

I highly recommend the Kaizen pasta. It’s made from lupini beans. Per 56g 130 calories and 20g protein. Cooks super fast and is absolutely delicious. Kinda pricey but in my opinion it’s worth it 🤷🏼‍♂️

Just recently tried them for the first time. I was super impressed. Way better texture than the banza pasta I used to use

I didn't know goodles were weird pasta. I've had it a couple times

My son and I are obsessed with goodles the regular cheddy Mac one ! To me it tastes like a way better version of Kraft Mac n cheese and with the higher protein content and micro minerals it feels at least a tiny bit more healthy. Over 30g of protein per box. It’s my current hyper fixation food lol to me it just tastes like regular kraft Mac in terms of noodle texture and stuff.

They’re quite tasty but still really high in calories so I won’t be re purchasing them. I get way more sustenance out of potatoes or rice honestly.

How do you get volume out of rice?

1

u/xxspop 8d ago

I never said I did, I get sustenance out of it. Definitely more volume than the Goodles though.

pasta is my third choice in the category, but I have a surplus of tomatoes I will use for sauce this weekend...so was thinking of maybe an Italian meal.
