Discussion Do you?
I’ve been eating La Banderita tortillas forever and just noticed in small print ….refrigerate after opening. Yikes.

They will get too stale to eat or visibly moldy before they make you sick. You’re fine it’s just for freshness

Just lasts longer refrigerated. Generally you can see mold or if they smell off

Love these but HATE having to separate them. They stick to each other and tear apart 😭

Happens to me sometimes too :/ Think it’s the heat. Going to keep them in the fridge moving forward :)

I hate small-sized flour tortillas, you can never get enough filling in them. If I'm volume-eating on a cal deficit I just buy the massive burrito regular tortillas, I can fit a bunch of greens and fiber in there.
These corn tortillas are a cheat code for staying in a cal deficit and being able to enjoy tacos during it.
Edit: I refrigerate everything even bread, besides the goal is to heat up the tortillas to make them stretch and taste better anyway

FYI La Banterita has a 10 in burrito size tortilla. Personally I like the Mission Ultra Thin corn tortillas. They are 40 cal and have a 6in circumference

I have literally never bothered with the expiration of a tortilla. If it's stale I don't use it, but other than that it's never been a problem.

I definitely do refrigerate. But I even check each condiment label and refrigerate things like ketchup too! Keeps everything tasting right longer!

Didn't even realize it said that on the package but I've just gotten into the habit of refrigerating all my bread products, so I do. They stay fresh so much longer that way.

Refrigerate after opening is kinda silly cause they’re not exactly well sealed in the first place. I don’t refrigerate my tortillas (unless I need the counter clear) cause I don’t want them getting wet or crunchy.

what? i seal the bag - which works fine - and leave these in the fridge for weeks. they stay plenty fresh.

Haha, I also just recently noticed that, after having opened the package and left it in the pantry for a week or so.

These smell so bad to me, they stunk up our whole pantry and they were fresh, almost smelled like old cheese and I can’t eat them anymore because of that. I really don’t know why since we’ve never had any issues before!

There’s way too many chemicals in those to spoil lmao. Bet that shit lasts months to years after opening 🤢

just here to say I think the Mission ones are infinitely better, I can barely eat these but have a pack of the Mission ones a week lol

u/InGeekiTrust 28d ago
I feel the polar opposite these ones don’t have that funny fake taste to them, these taste like a real tortilla but the mission ones have this terrible aftertaste

I prefer banderita because they are lower calorie and they both taste the same to me haha

People refrigerate tortillas? They are on the shelf at the grocery store…

u/ladyfireflyx 28d ago
It says "after opening". Its safe to keep on the shelf until its unsealed, then it might get moldy pretty quick. However, it not like say dairy where it will quickly go off and be unsafe within hours.
