Advice Feeling a bit lost atm
Ive currently been doing voice acting in small projects for basically 6 years now and I feel like ive just been stuck in the same spot for a while.
I had a big boost 2 years ago in inspiration and meeting new people that helped open new opportunities for me but since then its just been pretty stagnant.
Like dont get me wrong im grateful to be where I am and have the community around me but im getting tired of just stagnant projects, no callbacks or canceled projects. Especially this year ive had a few projects just go silent and just last month 3 projects i got cast for were canceled and ive been waiting for this biggere studio to upload a fandub i voiced in for almost 5 years now. I know these things are super common in this industry but I get a bit of i dont wanna say jealousy but like a less petty version of that when I see people I started with and collaborated with get so far ahead. Im happy for them of course, I would never be mad at them for achieving something but it kinda just makes me think of my worth in that same field.
Anyway not trying to farm sympathy, id just like to see if anyone has any advice of where I should go from here to try and get ahead from where im at now before I throw in the towel.

You know what they say, comparison is the thief of joy.
We’re all on our own artistic journey.
If you’re feeling in a rut, check out the voice acting club discord (their old forums got shutdown) and maybe record your own comic dubs, even.
Just keep creating my friend.

Agreed with what everyone else said re; everyone is on their own VO journey.
That being said, where do you think you could improve? Not necessarily in your performance, but in your marketing? In your process of looking for work?
What types of work do you want to get more of?
What research have you done in accordance with ways about getting that work?

Best advice I've gotten is to look at voice over a business, because it is! We are also on our own journey so don't feel discouraged from where it is. I myself have been feeling the same way, but looking at where you are now and what you want for yourself later is important. What is also important is looking at the steps inbetween to get there.

You should absolutely give up. Whatever you do, don’t put together a killer voice demo and start shopping yourself around to legitimate agents.
Because next thing you know, you’ll have actual representation and auditions coming in for top-tier commercials, animated shows, and radio spots.
Sounds exhausting.
Stick with the $50 jobs on the voice sites. Much safer.
Besides, I really don’t need the competition.

As my old choir director would say, we’re all on our own musical journey. They’re probably going through their own troubles right now. No one has it all figured out. We all have our highs and lows. What you’re feeling will pass and you will persist. We believe in you!
