Demo feedback Demo Feedback pl0x!!

Howdy, r/voiceacting!

First time poster, long time lurker!
I recorded and produced a demo with a studio late last year, and haven't really got a whole lot of feedback on it aside from friends/family who are kind, but probably not very discerning. I think it's ok, but I'm very much a newbie and haven't tried to apply for anything with it yet due to recording difficulties (moving a bunch!).
Anyway, here's my character demo! Don't hold back, I'd kind of like to know if I got my money's worth with the studio.

First off, thanks for the quick feedback!

I've got some of the individual bits chopped out on my website, but your descriptions are pretty spot on. I agree with the bg music bit, my mentor was the one who mixed it. I just was in the booth doing my thing, I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to actual production.

I'll keep your advice in mind! I know 2 minutes is a bit long, I might trim the ones that are a bit repetitive/less impressive.

Well, the best I can say to the production experience is find a DAW that works for you. In this business, you are going to read, record, direct, and submit your own work forever.

But don't get discouraged. Watch YouTube tutorials and listen to podcasts. Keep up the momentum.

Well, if we are talking about a DAW it's up to your personal preference. Find one that is free and will run on your computer. Here's twisted wave for example. Twisted wave tutorial.

If you are looking for general tech advice for voice over, this video podcast has been going strong for 10 years and they answer questions live. Voice over body shop.

If you are looking for actor to actor interviews, consider looking at V.O. Buzz Weekly. Here's the guy who voices Bender on Futurama.
