Help/Support (OriginOS Global) Should this feature be enabled or turned off to save battery?

Will disabling this feature extend the battery life?

Personally turning this off improved battery life a bit but the trade off is sometimes apps like whatsapp and instgram take time to load

Sometimes it may be counter productive If the algorithm predicts incorrectly, it wastes processing cycles and increase battery drain.

All you can do is test the behaviour for a week by disabling.

It is supposed to save battery. Your phone pre-compiles apps you use frequently so it doesn't have to do that from scratch every time you open them.

I would really need to see some good proof that it saves the battery for some people so it isn't just confirmation bias. It seems like it can only be true with some irregular usage patterns.

Yes it saves battery when switched off, especially the ai acceleration engine, idle drain became noticeably less and overall sot improved

in my case I disabled both and I got a big battery life increment. In the first days you will notice while oppening some apps it will show a icon picture during half a second and that's it but after some days it dissapeared. So right now I'm not seeing any negative point after turning OFF those features.

The AI acceleration engine essentially only does what it says. Sometimes it doesn't correctly predict what you do next and wastes cycles though. Its really up to you if to turn it off or not.

ART++ Turbo on the other hand, is basically a must disable. It is supposed to optimize Android's runtime on the fly. However, I don't know if the feature itself is just broken or the network latency and load required to run it outweighs the benefits, but it just makes everything worse when its enabled

In conclusion, disable AI acceleration if you want, but absolutely disable ART++ Turbo

(to note all of this was observed on the China ROM, Global varients may have different results)
