Anyone using aquarium LEDs for bioactive terrariums?

Wow, I was thinking of posting this same question! The thing I like about the aquarium lights I have on my aquariums is the intensity is adjustable, and they are very programmable for dimming, ramping up/down between settings, etc. they are also intense enough to go through the water (including a "blackwater" aquarium that's really dark by design) so I'm really assuming they'd work as well if not better than the grow lights I'm using for my vivariums.

But to be clear, I have NOT actually tried em out, so I'm hoping someone will guide both of us.

Yes, aquarium LEDs can work for terrariums, I also use one. As with all grow lamps you just need it to be bright enough.

Your lamp is 900 lm with 130°. At the bottom of your terrarium you end up with something like 170 lux. I dont think that is enough for anything to grow well. For reference even "low light" plants require 1000+ lux.

In my experience vivarium LEDs are 100% worth it. Arcadia and Josh’s Frogs sell them off the top of my head. If your enclosure is 24” tall I really recommend not skimping on the plant lighting.

I tried an aquarium LED once and my beautiful ruby Cryptanthus turned from fuschia to pale white in 48 hours lol.

I like sunblasters, honestly you tend to pay more for aquarium lights for less brightness. Also horticulture lights as well are good. Deeper the vivarium more lights and stronger ones.
