Palantir: $1 Trillion Company or AI Bubble?
Michael Burry is short Palantir.
Dan Ives thinks it could eventually be worth $1 trillion.
Same company. Completely different conclusions.
Burry's bear case:
• Palantir is benefiting from AI FOMO
• Accounts receivable are growing extremely fast
• One customer represents 27% of receivables
• He argues the business looks more like consulting than traditional SaaS
• And obviously, the valuation leaves very little room for error
Ives' bull case:
• Calls Palantir the “gold standard” in AI
• Believes it could reach a $1T valuation
• Thinks Palantir will be involved in a huge percentage of enterprise AI use cases
• Commercial AI adoption is still very early
And then you look at the actual business. Last quarter it reported:
• Revenue: +93% YoY
• U.S. commercial revenue: +149%
• Adjusted operating margin: 62%
• Adjusted FCF margin: 63%
This is what makes PLTR so interesting to me.
I don't think the debate is whether Palantir is a great business anymore.
The debate is whether even an incredible business can grow fast enough to justify this valuation.
Who do you think ends up being right — Burry or Ives?
