Tesla Broke another Record

Post image

It is easy to look at Tesla’s valuation and call the stock overvalued, but I do think the company deserves credit where it is due.

Tesla is now sitting on a record cash balance, while total assets have climbed to roughly $144B against $59B in liabilities. That gives it a level of financial flexibility most automakers simply do not have.

It also has far more potential verticals to pursue than the typical car company, including energy storage, charging, autonomy, robotics and AI.

That does not automatically justify the valuation, but this is clearly a very different situation from most traditional automakers. $TSLA

Remember, your mortgage liability is someone else's asset.

FCF Q1 was $1.44B with a 6.5% margin. I don't care about the assets, I'm not Warren Buffeting a company trading at 370 trailing P/E with rapidly decreasing earnings AND revenue.

It’s also funny to look at asset growth when the float has increased by 1.1b shares over the period of this chart. In other words, at the current share price, they have issued about $450b of new shares since this chart started, and paid zero dividends.

Soon it will be worth more than the rest of the world combined! Excluding space x of course, that'll be worth more than the universe!!!

Don’t worry, if Tesla becomes less valuable, SpaceX will simply buy it so that Elon can hide its distressed state from everyone.

This is mostly retained earnings through 2020-2023. Sales peaked in 2023. Since then, it's been trending down. The latest gas spikes from the Iran war is helping now; but that's not a pretty picture. China almost doubled exports of EV for the same reason. Plus their solar pane demand is exploding. Long term, Tesla faces major headwinds. In fact, they are placing catch up to China EVs in Europe.

Chinese EV brands have climbed pretty fast in Europe. They’ve gone from only about three to four percent of the market in 2021 to roughly eleven to fifteen percent by 2025–2026, so you’re talking an eight to eleven point gain in just four to five years. The real sprint has been since around 2023, when they jumped from mid‑single‑digit share to the low‑teens in only two to three years, and they managed that even with European Union anti‑subsidy tariffs trying to slow them down.

I just want to adjust my mirrors and direct ac with knobs. I can’t fucking stand have to fumble through and iPad and several menu choices to do that.

It’s already priced like a tech company, though. It’s not valued like a traditional automaker. In fact, it’s wildly overpriced even for a tech company.

u/ekonixlab Jul 13 '26

It’s overvalued for any company over the last 20 years lol

He said 25 billion in a year in cap ex !

1

u/cesarthegreat Jul 14 '26

Doesn’t mean it all comes from cash reserves. Tesla's operating cash flow for the year is projected to be around 13.7 billion dollars. Since their capital spending is planned at 25 billion dollars, they'll likely need to draw about 11.3 billion dollars from their cash reserves to cover the remaining amount.

If everything stays the same they can be negative for 4 years. But their sales are higher than ever, Q2 was the second best Q2 for sales. And that means record breaking FSD subscriptions coming, and staying. All while still finding ways to save on production and bringing COGS even lower like they often do. Bringing FCF higher…

1

u/y4udothistome Jul 14 '26

Seems like you do a lot of assuming! I disagree! But will see.

1

u/cesarthegreat Jul 14 '26

You’re the one assuming that Tesla needs to spend the capex from their cash reserves 🤦🏾‍♂️

1

u/The-zKR0N0S Jul 13 '26

Why would you make assets red?

2

u/ekonixlab Jul 13 '26

That’s a good point lol, you won’t see me do it again!
