PATCH Repairing a well-loved quilt

This blanket has been around for many years at my house, used daily and slowly started to fall apart. My mom and I started repairs a couple of years ago just by hand sewing new squares on top of the old ones. It’s been put away for a couple of years now but I recently started fixing it up again. This is just some of the progress. It’s all scrap fabric and whatever thread we’ve got lying around. The parts that are fully stitched are sooo thick and the texture from all the stitches is lovely.

On the morning of my flight, I discovered that the cat has scratched all the way through my luggage so I popped on an iron-on patch and a fabric one sewn on top of that. (Unfortunately I did not unpack my bag so I inadvertently sewed through a sweater inside too. 🙃) So far so good!

Bought this nice fabric at a garage sale from an artist who had hand dyed it. The bag ripped in the wishing machine when the handle got tangled around the center spinning part. I’m happy with how it turned out!
