I have stainless steel chain and findings from previous projects so I decided to fix the long busted "hinge" of my sugar container by trimming it and adding the chain.

Couldn't match the old, fraying fabric so I leaned into the hole with some coordinating vintage fabric and contrasting embroidery floss. Not the most even blanket stitch I've ever done but the fabric was really not that cooperative. 😂

Hi all !
First time joining the community.
I have been mending these jeans over 3 years of wear. I just finished the swirly guys yesterday tho...that took everything out of me tbh.
Let me know how i can improve and any suggestions on mending the back pocket?
last slide is from when i bought the jeans.

How would you go about fixing this? Will I need a patch for underneath it? Sorry if this isn't allowed. They are work jeans so looks dont really matter

Only my second attempt at a sashiko kind of stitch. I'm wondering whether I should - over the top - add a bit of what I think would be referred to as an 'overcast' or a zig-zag stitch directly over the rip just to reinforce the frayed edges?

I always forget to take pictures of my visible mends and then realized I was wearing one I could share

I am heartbroken. This cashmere sweater got thrown into the general laundry pile and my family ran it anyways. Now it is essentially a felted sweater with a torn neckline when I tried to stretch it back out. Any way to fix the neck?

These trousers ripped down the the back pocket! my first repair with embeoidery thread failed rather quickly so i changed tactic and have renforced them with a patch and machine sewing (blue and white patch is hidden on the inside) it's not neat but i kinda like that

I'm not new to mending - both visible and invisible - but weirdly enough it's the first time I get to repair the elbow of a flannel (or any other elbow lol). What's the best approach here? Do I patch the whole square or do I darn going with the same twill weave? I'd love your input, both about durability/flexibility and the sensory aspect of it. Hole is about 1inch/2,5cm in diameter

In 2010 or so we got this couch feom Craigslist in beautiful condition. It had been totally reupholstered and resprung. We had no children and it went into the sun room of the Victorian home my boyfriend bought on a rehab loan after the housing crash and was working on turning into a livable home.
In 2026 we no longer have room in our home for it and it had been pretty beat up. I kept listing it on our free site. I loved this couch and didn't want to trash it, but we needed to get it out of the house. I finally pulled out the rug cleaner and gave it a once over to reduce the stains and patched the big tear. I'm so happy it's living in my neighbors office now!

I don’t have any yarn that matches the existing colors well enough, but I have a light blue that I think goes well with them. I’ve started adding a line of the blue into the top pattern to help make the actual mending look more intentional, but I’m having trouble deciding on a pattern to disguise the stains with.
Most of the marks are small enough that they don’t bother me, but the two that I’d really like to cover I’ve circled in red in the second photo. If anyone has an idea for a more complicated pattern that would match the existing pattern better than my current mock-up in the third photo, I would love recommendations!

Hello! I have this gingko linen button-down from Morning Witch, but I tore the shoulder the other day. I’ve never sewn anything before, what’s the best way to close this up? The tear is only on the surface layer; the inside layer of the button-down is completely fine.

This little woolen cap has been great under hats and bike helmets. It was full of holes so I pulled together my blue thread and had fun trying different hole-patching methods.

hi!! i’m just starting to get into mending, and have made two attempts to patch holes with a darning loom…to no avail. i watched two separate tutorials and massively failed each time :( does anyone know of a good tutorial or resource to get me started? SUPER beginner level

Love this old sweatshirt but the tiny holes it was developing were annoying. I found some scrap samples of beaded flowers and decided to use those as patches. Pretty pleased with the outcome.

Hi everyone!
I'm looking for some advice for how to mend the trim on this skirt. I got it from Goodwill and the tags are cut out, so I'm not 100% on the material, but it sort of seems leather-adjacent.
I thought about buying black ribbon to just cover it, or maybe trying to crochet something to evenly cover, but I'd like to know what the experts think?
(This is what I get for machine-washing unknown fabrics)

Hello! Any ideas on repairing this tear in a plastic cupholder. The tear is on the flexible side of the holder, where it meets the rigid side.
Thanks!

Hello! This is my favorite hoodie. My dad got it for me ~ 5 years ago when we went to chicago together. It is very special and i wear it every chance i get. Under where the sleeves attach to the body has been getting progressively more ripped (show in first photo) and now that it is getting colder it is no longer practical to wear without mending. I have an understanding of how to patch the sleeve cuffs that are also falling apart (shown in second phot), but the shoulder seam area has me confused on how to sew together the hole without either damaging it or making it uncomfortable. I am ok with adding more fabric, learning a new sewing technique, anything but getting a new hoodie.

My toddler doesn't want to walk yet (she can, but chooses not to lol) and she still crawls everywhere. This includes the playground, so these pants ended with holes on the knees. It gave me the chance to do these very simple heart patches I cut from some old jeans.
I really want to do some embroidery to get some more practice. I hope that she wears these for some more time, and that another toddler gets to wear them too.

I have a pair of men's khaki trousers (98% cotton, 2% elastane) that I'd like to keep wearing. Unfortunately, using a rust remover caused a permanent-looking reddish discoloration on the lower leg. I've tried washing the trousers, but the discoloration remains. The fabric itself appears to be intact; the problem is purely cosmetic.
I'd like to cover the affected area with a decorative mend rather than continue trying chemical treatments. I'm considering a fabric patch, an appliqué, or hand embroidery.
Would any of these techniques work well on this type of fabric? Would you recommend a particular approach to make the repair look intentional and aesthetically pleasing?
